The Obama administration on Friday imposed a wave of sanctions against members of the North Korean government, amounting to the U.S. government's first official response to the cyber-attack against Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Despite lingering questions from private security analysts over whether North Korea was responsible for the hack -- as the FBI has alleged -- the White House described the new sanctions as retaliation against Pyongyang.

"We take seriously North Korea's attack that aimed to create destructive financial effects on a U.S. company and to threaten artists and other individuals with the goal of restricting their right to free expression," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.

"As the president has said, our response to North Korea's attack against Sony Pictures Entertainment will be proportional, and will take place at a time and in a manner of our choosing. Today's actions are the first aspect of our response."

The president signed an executive order authorizing sanctions against agencies and officials associated with the North Korean government and Workers' Party of Korea.

"Iran definitely developing nuclear weapons, Obama wants to ease sanctions."

They are allies with Obama's boss, Valerie Jarret, in their war against the USA.

I thought sanctions hurt the poor and don’t alter the policies.

Obammy needs to make up his mind.

But didn’t we find out absolutely that it was NOT North Korea??

Check the Obama/Dem Party contribution log. Maybe Sony contributed, and has the King's ear. If they think the Norks are responsible (maybe they don't want to admit an internal employee hack), the King might listen and act.

Didn’t Obama learn that “blame the video” doesn’t work?

This feels like a strawman.

1) Blame the Norks for the Sony hack.
2) Then “discover” evidence (that we already know about) that it was a Sony inside job
3) Apologize to the Norks by opening trade and diplomacy
4) Such trade and diplomacy would legitimize yet another oppressive kleptocratic communist country

Ding !!! Ding!!! Ding!!! We have a winner!

You are correct sir. Although I would add that NO ONE is believing the lie that North Korea did this.

North Korea can’t feed their people, but all of a sudden they are computer experts?

Have you seen that satellite picture of North Korea with the lights at night? They have very little power.

I think they have around 12 computers in the entire country that is connected to the Internet.....

Furthermore, North Korea always brags. Why would they not brag if they were really secretly doing this???

How could North Korea gain from hacking Sony..... It’s makes no sense, and I’m not buying the movie lie again.

Just like Benghazi... It was a movie.

Who gains from this??? The Feds who want to control the information on the Internet.

This administration’s foreign policy goal is to have America be attacked by a number of countries working together.

They’ve done everything they can to hamper new weapons systems.

They’ve done everything they can to dismantle existing and old weapon systems.

They’ve done everything they can under dubious circumstances to piss off other countries, and create hot spots where hatred of the usa is fomenting.

Nobody doubts this admin hates America. Hates the greatness unique to America. Longs for a post-America world, given Obama loved reading that book and has used it as his blueprint, his new holy koran.

Obama wants us taken out. He won’t do it himself because the military has stopped him from doing so. Instead he’s trying to get Russia, China, and little stooges to get to the point THEY do something.

I think it was some privately hired experts that came to that conclusion. Once Obama says it’s NK, he will stick by it and any new evidence be dam**d.

Don’t tell anyone!! It will mess up all the pundits smacking the Norks. One of these days they’ll hear about the former employee thing.

Based on previous experience for the past six years, if Obama says he is punishing NK, it means he is sending them money.

New evidence Sony hack was ‘inside’ job, not North Korea ^

US cybersecurity experts say they have solid evidence that a former employee helped hack Sony Pictures Entertainment’s computer system — and that it was not masterminded by North Korean cyberterrorists. One leading cybersecurity firm, Norse Corp., said Monday it has narrowed its list of suspects to a group of six people — including at least one Sony veteran with the necessary technical background to carry out the attack, according to reports. The investigation of the Sony hacking by the private companies stands in stark contrast to the finding of the FBI, which said Dec. 19 its probe traced the hacking...

Hope Kim Jung Dong is more up to speed than our gov’t is. Hands up, Don’t launch.
