Yesterday, Governor Palin shared a seemingly benign "happy new year" Facebook post that included photos of her son Trig using their dog, Jill Hadassa, as a footstool of sorts. True to form, the media and the Left (pardon the redundancy) jumped at the opportunity to express their outrage. Animal rights groups also made their disapproval of the photos known as well, per POLITICO:
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals called the post inappropriate.
“It’s odd that anyone — let alone a mother — would find it appropriate to post such a thing, with no apparent sympathy for the dog in the photo,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in a statement to POLITICO.
It is odd, Ingrid, isn’t it? Let’s flashback to about six months ago to an image shared by Ellen Degeneres on her show’s Facebook page:
It’s odd that PETA did not make the same statement when Degeneres, their 2009 Woman of the Year, shared a similar photo with her more than 17 million Facebook friends this summer and received more than a quarter of a million likes. Wouldn’t PETA expect someone whom they honored to not condone such an action and photo, even if it didn’t not involve her or her child?
My post is neither a condemnation or an approval of the photos shared by Governor Palin or Ellen Degeneres. It simply highlights yet another example of the selective outrage of the media and various organizations when it comes to Governor Palin. One moment they are declaring her politically dead and irrelevant; the next moment they are, by the magnitude of their outrage, implying that she has tremendous influence over the public’s treatment of animals. Such logical whiplash must be painful.
As the Governor shared last Spring, the Palins received their beautiful dog from the Puppy Jake Foundation which trains dogs to be service animals for wounded warriors and others who need assistance. You can read more about the Foundation here.

I don’t know why anyone cares... most of the people raising stink about this still think Tina Fey is Palin. Seriously, these are the people who draw political conclusions by watching comedy central for cryin out loud. I know it’s been said a million times, but you just can’t fix stupid.

It is okay for a little girl to stand on a dog but not a little boy. Is that the lesson we are supposed to get out of all this hypocrisy that the left shovels at us?
Palin should know what the response is going to be. She shouldn’t have posted it.
On the same note, when I was about two years old I jumped on a sleeping dog and it bit me. The owner shot the dog. Of course, I don’t remember it but when I was six or so my other told me about it. It’s haunted me my whole life.
Part of what Palin does, is strive to break the cowardly timidity of modern conservatives and republicans, and to prove that one can live and be free, and yet survive the media.
They fear her, there’s no doubt about that.

Never mind, I see now that the picture included is the one Ellen posted. LOL. I thought that was the picture Palin had posted.
Governor Palin steadfastly stands for freedom, liberty and pro-family values. The left is enraged because her posting included a pro-God statement. They’re using the animal as a mere tool — a form of misdirection. That’s so typical of the communist playbook. Sarah Palin is good and liberals are bad. Yes, it’s really as black and white as that.

There is a HUGE difference between a kid jumping on a dog from two steps up and stepping up on it. You can prove this for yourself. Lay on the floor and have a kid step up on your stomach and stand there...then have the same kid jump on your stomach from two steps up. You’ll see what I mean.
The dogs are clearly able to move away if they are uncomfortable.
Anybody who thinks these pictures show anything other than the special relationship between kids and dogs - particularly a dog’s loving patience with “their” kids - doesn’t know much about kids and dogs...especially dogs.
