Archaeologists find possible site of Jesus’s trial in Jerusalem
Washington Post ^ | January 4, 2015 | By Ruth Eglash

JERUSALEM — It started 15 years ago with plans to expand the Tower of David Museum. But the story took a strange turn when archaeologists started peeling away layers under the floor in an old abandoned building adjacent to the museum in Jerusalem’s Old City.

They knew it had been used as a prison when the Ottoman Turks and then the British ruled these parts. But, as they carefully dug down, they eventually uncovered something extraordinary: the suspected remains of the palace where one of the more famous scenes of the New Testament may have taken place — the trial of Jesus.

Now, after years of excavation and a further delay caused by wars and a lack of funds, the archaeologists’ precious find is being shown to the public through tours organized by the museum.

The prison “is a great part of the ancient puzzle of Jerusalem and shows the history of this city in a very unique and clear way,” said Amit Re’em, the Jerusalem district archaeologist, who headed the excavation team more than a decade ago. . .

interesting article. The comments are pretty vicious, seething with hatred of Jesus, Christianity, and the Bible. The article was published in the Washington Post, so I am not terribly surprised at the comments by liberal haters.

Did you notice the caption of the second pic? It refers to “emperor Herod”. Tiberius must be rolling in his grave.

I wasn’t particularly surprised by the vitriol either. God will not be mocked, and since I already know how it all ends, can’t wait.

I haven’t looked at the comments but I imagine they claim there is no proof that Jesus ever existed, that it’s all a myth or hoax.

I guess they never heard of or care to hear of Josephus or Polycarp.

And it all plays in with erasing all references to Jesus, e.g. BC —> BCE and AD —> CE, etc.

That is a functional alcoholic speaker at work here. Notice “unilateral,” the recovery, and then the not very distinctly formed platitudinous remarks that follow. The guy’s good on his feet drunk.

The abbreviations were introduced with the word ‘Christian’ but were then changed to replace with ‘Common’.

So now they say it means:

BCE = Before Common Era
CE = Common Era

It’s all about erasing any reference to Jesus.

So now they say it means:

"They" are wrong.

BCE = Before Christian Era
CE = Christian Era

That's how I read them and explain them to anyone who asks. You can do the same.

I won’t argue it. I’ll let you argue with ‘they’.

Google “What does BCE and CE mean?” and you will get the vast majority of websites including some serious scholarly ones saying that is ‘Before Common Era’ and ‘Common Era’.

You can argue with them.
