Yeah, that’s part of “the culture” I suppose.
My comment wasn’t on the “Godliness” of the mother, in particular, but of the absolute necessity of the father’s role.

The deal with the “grandmother” is usually due to a perverse incentive in the law where the “grandmother” assumes guardianship in order to increase her benefit check.
