Gohmert and Yoho may be the ones who can prevent Boehner from being Speaker for the next Congress but that doesn’t mean either will replace him. Having 29 votes between then is one thing. Having 218 to win is quite another. On the very slim chance that Gohmert and Yoho do manage to come up with 29 votes I expect Boehner will either work a deal or a new candidate will announce and be elected.
Great post. Someone was keeping careful score and summed it all up very nicely. Thank you, caller. And Rush. And Yosemitest.
The politics in Congress are such that Boehner has it locked. If people vote against him but he still wins, they could be punished. This includes reduction of staff, moving to the basement and loss of chairmanships. I would love to see him tossed out but I’m afraid it’s very unlikely.
On the radio this morning, Bill Handel did make a news item of this story, and he and his guys talked about the remarkable number of people against Boehner, but said he would of course win because that is always what happens.
did this conversation happen “today” (Tuesday) ?
This post came almost at the same time as Glenn Beck noted that Rush Limbaugh did not commit himself on Boehner’s removal while Hannity and Levin have openly done so.
Beck also said that Fox News’s reporting of the matter and the way they questioned Louie Gohmert was like MSNBC would have done the job.
Looks like Jeff Duncan SC 3 district is not voting for Boehner. Don’t know if it’s a recent turnaround but glad to hear it.

Gohmert, blah blah. Yoho, blah. All menaingless. Bohener is laughing at them. The GOPe is in total control of the party. Any “resistance” is a fantasy.
Webster got way more votes.
