NY Times ^ | January 6, 2015 | Nick Wingfield

Over the last year, Apple, Google and other big technology companies have faced mounting criticism by civil rights leaders about the lack of diversity in their work forces, which are populated mostly by white and Asian men.

Now Intel, the giant chip maker, is taking more concrete steps to do something about it.

Diversity is working great at Charlie Hebdo.

Your HR dept sounds typical. My last few interviews ended at 30-45 minutes when I was told, "your resume and experience are too strong for this position."

I usually received a chilly response when I asked for assistance on dumbing down my resume. Heck, they had my application for weeks prior to calling me in.

HR depts are out to save their jobs first by making their stats look good. It's not about hiring the best people.

Booker T. Washington lived in the early XX Century; he was the intellectual equal of the likes of Thomas Sowell. America would be better off if folks had paid more attention to him and less to the likes of WEB DuBois. America would be better off today if folks paid more attention to Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell and less to the likes of jesse jackson and al sharpton.

How dare ask such an appropriate question!!

I get “diversity” for certain things, like sales. You may wish to relate to specific customers, languages, etc..

Although this “celebration” of what makes us different is the problem, would should instead be celebrating what makes us the same....we’re all Americans. Not African-American, not Hispanic American.

I moved here from England at 16, became a citizen in 2000. Someone once said to me, “oh so you’re now an American!”. I replied jokingly, “actually I prefer to be called an Anglo-Saxon American”...for a moment everyone thought I was serious! lol - British humor doesn’t always drop well over here. Although there were a couple of chuckles when they realized I was kidding.

That said, Intel can afford it. Many at Intel have nothing to do with actual design of microprocessors.

By “diversity”, I assume they don’t mean

“more Indian, Chinese and other Asian workers”

...big technology companies have faced mounting criticism by civil rights leaders about the lack of diversity in their work force...

Then the so called civil rights 'leaders' should tell their people to stay in school, learn something useful, throw down the crack pipes and Old English 800 bottles, quit aspiring to be rappers , thugs and basketball players, stop killing each other, and become CEOS instead of DOAS................

Intel is no longer the company it used to be.
Internally, some its best people are being forced out.
This time though, its both men and women with targets on their back.

The one unique factor...they are all Americans.
The new CEO is a total moron

I’m not sure what this will do except grab this very limited resource from other companies like Google or Apple or whatever.

I think the main reason for some of the strange things going on internally is the new fab in Portland.
They spent $$$$$$ on it and the process it was designed for is way behind schedule.

For all these problems, the rest of the Semi industry is in worse shape.

I work in high tech in SV and we have LOTS of women and minorities (n some departments, there are hardly any white men). Just not the race hustler approved kind.

Yup. Just Chinese, Indians, Koreans, Vietnamese, etc. The kind that study and work hard. They don't count - they're 'white'.

I understand the fact high-tech is male dominated. However, that cannot be changed overnight. It will take a generation to change, just like it took a generation for women to shift away from studying the computer sciences in the 1960s and 1970s to not studying those fields in the 1980s and 1990s.

I read a great article which correlated the sudden drop off in women studying the computer sciences to the introduction of microcomputers into high schools. Most women who chose to study computer sciences never touched a computer prior to their first programming class in college. Once TRS-80s and Apple IIs were put in high schools, computers became "boy toys" with teenage boys learning to program video games in BASIC and then continuing on to study computer sciences in college. Women lacked the high school programming experience, found they were behind, and changed curriculum.

That all said, the idea that a mixture of white/European, south Asian (primarily Indian), and east Asian (mostly Chinese and Korean) is not ethnically diverse is not just wrong, it is denial. It redefines "ethnically diverse" to only be true if it includes Latino and black. What the new "ethnically diverse" really means is to be "socioeconomically diverse", not in the sense that poor Latinos and blacks are included, but that representatives of the traditionally socioeconomically deprived Latino and black groups are represented.

It is insanity.

Here is a picture of a suburban Atlanta high school robotics club. Note it is not ethnically diverse (by current political correctness standards):

Its the new CEO that is doing this.
Internally his nickname is “Burger King”
Craig Barrett got the same “Treatment” from JJ during the dot crash.

Barrett’s response:
Barrett drove out most of the really good Sr management and put his people in power. BK is one of his stooges.

Hire more non-Americans.
Fire white American male workers.

Obnoxious black race pimp shaking down corporations for millions?

Jesse Jackson is a pioneer in developing this racist scam.

How else could a bumbling, marble-mouth idiot like Jackson became a multi-millionaire?

In the early 1900’s the mobs extorted money, jobs and even ownership from businesses by selling ‘insurance’ against mob violence
by the same mobsters selling the ‘insurance’.

The mobsters were treated as criminals, arrested, imprisoned and driven out of the insurance/extortion business by the government.

One hundred years later black race pimps like Jackson extort money jobs and even ownership from businesses by selling ‘insurance’
against charges of racism by the very same black race pimps selling the ‘insurance’.

The black race pimps are treated as community leaders, invited to the White House and allowed to conduct their criminal enterprise
with the backing, protection and complicity of the federal and state governments.
