She is months shy of 18 and doesn’t want the treatment. That should be the end of it.

Since she's 17, I agree with you. If she were 7, different story.

This is not good parenting, imho.

I guess they believe there are alternatives which will serve them better or at least as well. I think about quitting every day, but I’m hanging in there.

What a great point.

I think I have read of more than one case of a pregnant woman discovering that she has cancer and avoiding treatment in order to give birth to the baby.

Would the courts INSIST that this 17-year-old kill her baby with chemotherapy against her will? Could this young woman regain her "right to choose" by becoming pregnant?

Those that think the State should not have a decision in your private choices, except for just a few times of course, are just as marxist as those that want the State’s nose in everything.
You know, sometimes it hurts to not have Big Daddy take care of things. But that’s maturity.

and yet they prosecute young people under 18 at their discretion. If it’s not the girl’s decision, then it’s definitely the parent’s decision!

I think about quitting every single day, and I’ve got 12 weeks to go.

Do you need anything?

She could also be months shy of being cured with treatment.

As though chemotherapy can guarantee her cure. The drugs developed in the ‘’60s are still being used today...drugs that do poison the body and destroy one’s immune system making another bout with cancer likely. Been there and done that with family members. Someday we will look upon this antiquated treatment the way we look at the practice of blood-letting in the colonial era.

I absolutely couldn’t do that and ever live with myself. If I had to chain one of my kids down and force them to try every available option, I would... even if he hated me forever because of it. The state doing it... that’s an entirely different argument. It tears you up thinking the girl might die for lack of treatment, but it is her affliction and she should be in the care of her parents making those decisions. I’m not up to the reasons why CPS is involved, but it really gets dirty at that point. But, if the state seized her BECAUSE of their medical treatment decisions, heads need to roll.

These decisions are rough. I incline towards approving the taking of the minor from parental custody and control. (Yes, I know; “The Rights of Man!” However, the parents are imposing their deadly values on a child that lacks the maturity to decide.)

Probably the fact that she refused the treatment was grounds for concluding she was too immature. I mean what sensible person would dare flaunt the advice of their medical betters. I type of Catch 22 if you will.

Give the girl a loaded 357 magnum and tell the state to come and try to take the girl away by force.

I’m sure if she blows away one of the medical dictatorship’s agents, she’ll be put on trial as an adult.

Yes I’m totally agains’t the forced chemo but truthfully the two things chemo really works on are Hodgkins and leukemia. I think that poor girl should have had extensive professional counseling to help her prepare for and get through chemo not physically being forced into it.

I’m wondering if maybe she wanted to do cannibus oil or some other alternative and they just won’t report on it.
