The United States Air Force (USAF) has confirmed it will pull out of three UK airbases.
US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel said the Americans will leave RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk and RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire.
The move is part of a programme to save £320m ($500m) a year across Europe. The USAF lease the RAF bases.
Mr Hagel said he understood it would mean job losses and thanked those who had supported the US Air Force. "I know that this will result in a reduction of our local host nations workforces at some locations; I value the tremendous support they provided us for decades."
The USAF KC-135 tanker fleet based at Mildenhall will be moved to Germany. RAF Lakenheath, with two squadrons of new F-35 jets (48 of them) arriving by 2020, will be the aircraft's only European base.

Yep, elections do have consequences.
A bit more of that “flexibility” that zero promised his commie buddies
I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall from 94-96 flying on the RC135.
I still have fond memories of the 3 years (67-69) I was stationed at Lakenheath. I was TDY to Wheelus AFB when we got thrown out of Lybia.
hello clouds, hello sky sed Fotherington-Thomas...
Raf Mildenhall. Been there many times. Many a night at the Bird in Hand, liked everything on tap except the cider! Smokehouse was good, too.
just in case you missed it ping
The Bird in Hand. I drank many pints in that pub, great friends and great memories. Sad to see it all going.
513 Civil Engineering Squadron, RAF Mildenhall, 1972-1975.
RAF Molesworth, I have worked there. It is a nice area.
To you guys that know, isn’t there still a lot of wisdom in having assets dispersed? McArthur’s December EIGHTH, 1941, debacle at Clark Field, Manila springs to mind.

“I can’t ever recall seeing a Muslim.........”
Globalists that pushed the 1965 Immig act in the USA that sowed the seeds of multi-culuralizing the USA, also pushed open borders in Europe and the EU. Destruction of the western culture and national sovereignty and removing power of the citizenry remains their goal.
A nation divided is also a fundamental mission. What better way to divide than by saturating a nation with multitudinous non-native cultures
Obama’s TPP trade pact will aid and abet this movement just as did other anti sovereignty pacts and the UN.
RAF Mildenhall was a major base in England. RAF Lakenheath used many services at Mildenhall. It served as not just a tanker base but also hosted commercial flights and various other aircraft. I spent my formative years at Lakenheath.
I hope all the US vets here (thank you all btw) had good experiences in our country.
I’d be fascinated to know what you all liked and disliked, what you found odd or charming, appalling or great.
What better way to implement this but with a non-native President? His handlers may have ginned up a birth certificate for him, but he's about as foreign a President that has ever been. IMO, he's a Muslim, first and last and all these 'explanations' from his MSM protectors and WH handlers and politicos about his so-called Christianity blah, blah blah about how he prays/reflects in private blah, blah, blah leave out one big thing - the prayer rug.
Muslims in the UK since migration went to the major cities and towns to work, esp in the textile industry. Contrary to myth, there are still great chunks of the UK where Muslims and ethnic groups are very small or don’t exist. 92% of the UK is still white British/Irish/European.
May be. But look at the UK Census data from 1961 through 2011. The total nearly doubles on average every 10 years and the percentages aren’t far behind. In 1961 there were 50,000 compared to 2.7M in 2011. General population went from 46M to 56M.
Continuing the systematic reduction of American power and influence.
They’re not going to be out in the open.
Those bases have hardened shelters for the aircraft
Long article in Stars & Stripes that list all bases in Europe to be cut/downsized

I will be sorry to you all go. Seems to be mostly Germany.
As to the UK, there was a Sky TV documentary made a few years ago (2006) about Americans on a UK base and their lives. Whilst a few families made an effort to discover, I was disappointed that it seemed to be almost a little US where most families didn’t try to discover much about the UK or integrate. Maybe it was just that base.
