well it certainly didn’t take long for the new GOP congress to be as useless as the old...
Raising taxes .....well for.....just because they need more money for....because.....yes we can....
Members of the Sultan’s administration have long expressed a desire to get the price of gas to the levels Europeans pay for it. Boehner and McConnell will strive to get that done. The Republicans will go along.
When both Democrats and Republicans agree that the solution to a problem is to raise taxes, then what have we?
We know the GOPe and Democrats both hate what is known as the "Tea Party." But there is no such thing as the "Tea Party." There are many voters with common sense who can see the degradation and corruption in our government, who know that men and women are different, not the same as in same sex marriage, who know that abortion is killing of innocents, who know that the science of man made global warming is FAR from settled. And who believe in fiscal responsibility...
What to do?
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!
CONgress has consistently demonstrated that they can not be trusted with the nation’s finances.
If they want $$ for roads and bridges, let them reprogram money from other areas just like they have raided the transportation fund in the first place.
I have no patience for this.
If, and this is a big if, it were coupled with a permanent opening of all federal lands, offshore and on shore, to exploration and development with no minimal requirement for environmental review, then it might be palatable.
Same old $h!%! The RINO pubbies are just as bad as the RATS!
The feds and the states apply a fixed price per gallon tax, the price of gas has dropped which allows more people to purchase more for the dollar which means more gallons purchased and more taxes generated. There is no reason for raising gas taxes. Now state severance taxes on oil and gas are taking a big kick in the pants, they are based on percentage per barrel and unit. They are seeing an almost 50% drop in revenue.
Not one dime’s worth of difference.
Federalism is ‘supposed’ to mean, in this case, that the STATES can raise THEIR fuel taxes and fund their improvements. The rub is that the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT can DEMAND the states to do and fund specific actions. This is why we need a rebirth of the FEDERAL SYSTEM.
Of course if I held my breath for this, I’d find myself voting Democrat from 6 feet under!
Nope. You guys can find a place to CUT the budget elsewhere and put that money into infrastructure.
By the way, I thought that $1 TRILLION “stimulus” was going to infrastructure.
“Thoughtful” = “With gas prices down we think we can force this down peoples throats without too much political backlash”
I thought the Obamastimulus fixed our “crumbling” roads and bridges.
Why does government sponsor the building of infrastructure that requires continual, predictable bank-busting maintenance?
:^)
A trillion doesn’t go as far as it used to .
I thought I voted for Republicans in November...

Yep, it is the new way. Punish the productive and reward the destructive.
