If Palin and Levin Walk, the 2016 Nomination Is Not Worth Having
American Thinker ^ | January 9, 2015 | M. Joseph Sheppard

It's all very simple: the Republicans lost Florida in the 2012 presidential election by 0.88. If conservatives stay at home in 2016 in the same numbers as they did in 2012, then there is no chance of the GOP winning. If conservatives are advised by Governor Palin (unlike in 2012) and Mark Levin to either stay home or vote third-party, then it is impossible to see how Florida could be won by, for example, Jeb Bush.

However, for argument's sake, if, because of Bush's Florida connection and a bad economy, Florida is won, then Ohio (-2.98%), Virginia (-3.88%), and Colorado (-5.36%) also have to be roped-in. The road to 270 Electoral College votes is extremely difficult under the most optimal of circumstances; utter realism indicates that it is impossible with the slightest bleeding off of actual or potential votes from 2012.

What Ralph Nader did for Al Gore's hopes in 2000 would be a pinprick compared to the mountain a Republican nominee would face with a conservative base doing a de Blasio back-turn. There is no comparison with Reagan's 1980 victory, even though there was Republican John Anderson, running as an independent, who got 6.6% of the vote. This is because a Republican won't win both New York and California, as Reagan did, for the foreseeable future.

If the Republican nominee is an establishment figure, a Bush or a Christie, then he has to face the question of his relationship with Governor Palin. Mitt Romney didn't have her as part of his campaign or even have her address the Republican Convention (at which she was the star just four years earlier) in 2012. What did that avail him? There is, of course, no way to determine if the millions of potential GOP voters who stayed home might have turned out...

Unfortunately, I was goaded, cajoled, shamed, pressured, etc... into voting for him. I said for weeks that I wouldn’t do it but when I got into the booth, fear got the better of reason and guided my decision.

It won’t happen again.

We are going to have this discussion again, and it will probably get heated, again.

I believe a Christian has a responsibility before Christ to vote. Every election. No matter how disagreeable the choice.

Voting is a leadership function, and God WILL hold Christians accountable for the part they play. No use saying you will ‘pray’ for your country if you refuse to exercise the leadership authority God has already bestowed upon you.

Voting is a matter of conscience. Its not just about what benefits you personally, or sticking it to the other side, or your team winning, or who endorsed whom. Voting is a sacred trust, a function of stewardship with the goal of providing the most Godly leadership the United States can have, with the purpose of invoking God’s blessing upon this great nation, which was founded upon His principles.

Decide whom you serve, and man up, and act accordingly.

I didn’t like Romney, but I supported him, and argued here that we couldn’t let purity prevent us from stopping Obama. After what has happened over the last six years, I can tell you, I won’t support a rino again. These things move slowly, but surely.

Wisconsin (-6.94%)

Won THREE times by conservative Scott Walker.

If Scott Walker can beat a -6.94% margin handily, then Florida (-0.88%), Ohio (-2.98%), Virginia (-3.88%), and Colorado (-5.36%) will be a cinch.

Yea. I saw that the other day. Makes me sick to my stomach.

But then, we all knew what Boehner was before this.

And then proudly follow them out the door. Should've added that to my previous post. Lol

I'm sending my Rep Marchant a Tootsie Pop with the message "I'm through being a sucker for you."

If the RINO Party nominates a RINO, then they bear the responsibililty if a demonicrat traitor is elected.

I honestly think the best idea is a ‘Free Independent Republican’ party.

If the GOP nominates a candidate the 3rd party can live with, then it publicly endorses that candidate.

If the GOP does not, then it publicly runs an alternative 3rd candidate who runs under actual republican principles.

Obviously, a known candidate would be best. Any funding would have to be workers' shoe leather, because actual resources would be limited.

State by state laws would be a problem.

But, I do not like not voting for president. I want someone to support.

Palin/Bush. Doing a double take with that conclusion and the consequence of a Bush 3 presidency down the road.

Matt 18:8“If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire. 9“If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell.”

I kind of like the at all cost approach. No RINOs.

After the speaker vote, where everyone who voted a boner in basically held up a sign saying “I am owned by the statist govt and not representing you idiots in TV land,” I’m ready to HURT the Republicans.

I am hoping but not holding my breath that we can push a good constitutional conservative to the nomination. If not, I’ll get me one of those “I’m Ready For Hillary; What Difference Does It Make” bumper stickers. Hey, that would make a good tagline.

"We’ve went along twice with “moderates” with confused messages and lack of teeth. "

You must be young. I've been doing it since 1972 when I reluctantly voted for Nixon. Enough is enough.

The road to 270 Electoral College votes is extremely difficult

Breaking California into 4 to 6 states so the Dems don't start out with a 52 vote lead would help. /sorta sarc

I know I won’t vote for Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, or Chris Christie if they are the nominee.

Nope. Not this time. I am already preparing for at least 4 years of Hillary....it seems to be what the 'powers that be' want.

If they are so determined to bring about the destruction of this country let's get on with it so we can start over.

I don’t think it’s the same people saying both. Would love to have an actual FR poll and having to sign in with user names, although we have a lot of people who read and never sign up.

I was one of the “stop obama at all costs” voters last time. Obama was not american (no pass) until he was elected to the senate. He was a communist his entire adult life. People causing problems threatening to reveal his hidden (!) homosexuality were murdered. YES, ROMNEY OR [placeholder] WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN THAT AS OUR PRESIDENT.

At this point, things are different. Hillary is a lying traitorous leftist but I don’t see Jeb as any counter to that. It’s time. Let’s mess up this phony R party. Unless we get a conservative nominee.

So instead of 2 moonbat senators, they should have 8 or 12?

Comments?

Only comment is America is a Nation of idiots. Washington is so corrupt it cannot be saved. Palin or Levin or not. King Obama should have been stopped for his second term no matter what. It is those that could not see who King Obama is. He is a communists BLACK Muslim traitor and proved his worth during his first term. Second term of this King with no GOP worth a damn is disaster.
