Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) says hell make up his mind by this summer on whether he intends to complete his term in the Senate or return to West Virginia and run for governor.
Ill make a decision by this summer, end of the spring, he told the Associated Press.
Manchin, a centrist Democrat from a red state, has been vocal about his frustrations with gridlock on Capitol Hill and the leadership in his own party. His term expires in 2018, but hes said hed consider running for his old job as governor of West Virginia, a post he held from 2005 to 2010.
I didnt come here to sit on my hands, Manchin told the AP. The last four years are the most unproductive years of my working life.
The Hill reported earlier this year that Manchin gave generously to West Virginia state officials from his campaign account in 2014, potentially laying the groundwork for a return.
Democrats would have a difficult time holding Manchins seat should he retire from Congress. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.V.) crushed her Democratic opponent in 2014 by nearly 30 percentage points, and its been nearly 20 years since West Virginia voted for a Democratic presidential candidate.

Manchin should switch parties, he will fit right in with the RINOs.
If Manchin runs for Governor, he’ll be replaced by a Republican.
A typical liberal's outlook. The Congress is "unproductive" because not enough new laws are being put on the books.
Munchkin should go bugger himself. I don’t give a rip which party he claims ... I will NOT vote for the gun-grabbing bastard, ever, for any office.
“Manchin, a centrist Democrat”
I’d like to see that proved in light of his Senate voting record.
Filthy vile lowlife scumbag registered Democrat alert!
Then quit being a democrat.................
And he’ll lose the Governor’s race to boot...................
Wouldn’t he appoint his own replacement?
His seat is up in 2018.
