Granted, gasoline is more expensive in Europe, but it is an interesting statistic nonetheless.

Mail me if you want to be on an Electric Vehicle Interest ping list.

And the best thing is that electricity comes free from God, with no environmental impacts whatsoever.

This is total BS.

Believe a site called CleanTechnica and I’ve got a bridge to sell ya.

The Leaf will get you an average of 50 miles (On a full overnight charge) before you speed-dial the towing service to hall the damn thing away.

Technology is moving pretty fast on hybrids and electrics.

Tesla has provided a free update, to earlier models—which extends range.

With range of 300 miles or more, recharge in an hour, and they are completely practical for almost anybody.

Or another version uses small displacement gasoline internal combustion engines, as “range extenders.” BMW i3 for example.

Hybrid is here, and electric is coming fast, like them or not.

Note that Euros drive about half as much as Americans, and I’ll bet the average trip is half the distance too. That and the high gas prices (more than double those in the US), make EVs much more attractive there.

The Leaf is relatively affordable, though I believe Nissan loses money on every one.

Interested in how the economics look with Euro fuel prices and electricity rates.

Quick look is 7 bucks a gallon in France?

All this means is that European LEAF owners don’t give a DAMN about the environment where the electricity is generated nor the poor saps who have to live in those horrible, rancid, NON-self-induced environmental hazards.

Basically, this proves that European LEAF owners are obviously a bunch of selfish bass-turds!!

So they are polluting the atmosphere more than the rest of them.

I drive a vehicle that is nearly as clean as the LEAF. I have a 7.3L PowerStroke Diesel in a 2001 Ford Excursion. I can go over 800 miles on a tank and I could pull three of those LEAFs home, SIMULTANEOUSLY, while doing it!

Living and working in a state like MA or RI might make sense.
Living in a state like Texas not much sense.

Ahem.... No, they don’t drive more because they drive a Leaf. They drive more because they need to for whatever reason. They then bought the Leaf under the assumption that it would save them money. Whether it actually does or not is not in evidence.

The problem with such cars is that they’re not a net-positive for the environment, even though people think they are. Why? Because people only think of what is coming out of the tailpipe.

The mining of Lithium, transport across oceans, processing and refining, manufacturing of the batteries, etc. has a HUGE carbon footprint. You’d have to drive the vehicle a long way for it to be a net-positive...but then you have to replace the batteries!!! ...of course, ignore the power plant that must produce the electricity in the first place :)

You'll have something when you can beat this. You might have something if you can come close to this, in terms of price, performance, and longevity.

All these electric cars are costing us taxpayers way too much. I bet if you added up all the government spending an electric car has at least $1 million per vehicle in prior year government (read:taxpayer) spending behind them. Let’s not forget the taxpayer funded rebates each car gets.

Electric cars also result in massive Super Fund environmental cleanup projects.

They also run primarily on coal produces electricity; coal, a substance Zero and his ecoterrorists have been putting out of business.
