I am not Charlie
Regarding Massacre at French paper stuns world (Jan. 8), the killing of 12 people at the French newspaper, Charlie Hebdo, is appalling. Hopefully, the perpetrators will soon be caught and prosecuted. The fact that 12 people are dead over cartoons by white, male cartoonists is horrible.
Free speech is an important part of our society and criticism of Charlie Hebdo cartoons is also speech. But no one should be killed over cartoons. However, the statement Je Suis Charlie (I Am Charlie) ignores the magazines history of xenophobia, racism, sexism and homophobia. I sympathize with the victims families, but I will not be Charlie.

Je suis Charlie, this guy can buzz off.
Homophobia? - I thought they were staunchly pro homosexual.
So what's not to like?
Where’s the ‘Ralph’ alert?
I think we’ve found that last guy who actually buys the paper to read Mark Morford.
I want a shirt
They were certainly anti-Christian. For some odd reason, though, Christians didn't murder them. Mohammedans murdered them.
That tells us something about the difference between Christians and mohammedans, between Christianity and mohammedanism. All cultures are not equal. Mohammedanism is a murderous death cult.
I’d get a subscription if I could, it would help me with my learning French.
Well, thanks for prioritizing. Bedroom before Boardroom.
Ralphie was insensed over the homophobia ... he laughed his butt off at the rest.
too bad this guy didn't know for sure the white male cartoonists were Christians or not. Why would this creep mention the "white" "maleness" of the cartoonist but neglect to mention the "Muslim-ness" of the "terrorists"? Hmm....
They’ve published some horrendously blasphemous pictures of God the Father being sodomized by God the Son.
It’s a shame these folks were murdered. I don’t support killing people you disagree with....instead I pray for their conversion.
So, I am not Charlie either.
This guy really thinks Tea Partiers ran this paper.
I concur with this sentiment. My opinion is that CH is a vile publication. Not sure why saying so somehow means I think anyone there deserved to be murdered.
Ralph the homophobe didn’t bother to find out if any of the people killed were gay or transgendered.
Yes they were very pro homosexual, and a bunch of them were homosexual themselves I think, but not in the delicate sort of way that is the acceptable in San Francisco.
It is weird here. Its populated by perverted Miss Grundys.
Charlie is so much better off without this twerp.
