Prosecutors Said to Recommend Charges Against Former Gen. David Petraeus
New York Times ^ | January 9, 2015 | By MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT and MATT APUZZO

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors have recommended bringing felony charges against retired Gen. David H. Petraeus for providing classified information to his former mistress while he was director of the C.I.A., officials said, leaving Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to decide whether to seek an indictment that could send the pre-eminent military officer of his generation to prison.

The Justice Department investigation stems from an affair Mr. Petraeus had with Paula Broadwell, an Army Reserve officer who was writing his biography, and focuses on whether he gave her access to his C.I.A. email account and other highly classified information. F.B.I. agents discovered classified documents on her computer after Mr. Petraeus resigned from the C.I.A. in 2012 when the affair became public.

Mr. Petraeus, a retired four star-general who served as commander of American forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan, has said he never provided classified information to Ms. Broadwell, and has indicated to the Justice Department that he has no interest in a plea deal that would spare him an embarrassing trial. . .

If a private would face discipline for this, then generals should as well.

He knows a lot of stuff - especially on Obola....as he nears the end of his term, he and Holder have many reasons to see the General behind bars or even dead.

Petraeus held the top post both at DOD and then at the CIA —I could have that order reversed.

He switched from one role to the next RIIIGHT BEFORE Benghazi.

DOD was wholly unaware of the large-scale missile transfer op there —Petraeus had to be read into the program rather far along after it had already begun.

It is POSSIBLE that these charges are being conjured up to serve as leverage in residual Benghazi fallout.

I don’t know all the details, but with THIS Admin, when there is the tiniest whiff of smoke you can be sure there is a whole lot MORE smoke, and probably fire.

I don’t especially like the man and what he did was wrong —fine.

I THINK THERE IS MORE TO THIS.

At least he’s not guilty of dereliction of duty at Benghazi, or running guns to narco-terrorists, or Republican voter suppression over at the IRS, blah blah blah blah...

Let me know when the real charges for treason are filed against the Obama administration.

You will find the anti American traitors residing within the White House walls.

Petraeus has been raking it in on several do-nothing Warbucks Inc corporate boards.

If he had any honor, he would have already done a Colonel Hackworth on Meet the Press.

Yes, he’s being punished, the take-away is the unhappy tippy canoe of the status quo “understanding” is being tipped over and there will be more to come.

He should have written his book about his betrayal by Team Obama, DeputyDCIA Mike Morrel (now at CBS as a “consultant”) and all of the rest. He knows what happened at Benghazi, and it saddens me that he’s just been satisfied to rake in millions in do-nothing board directorships.

His honor is 100% at stake, if he has any left.

Under these conditions, will Obama’s Garden of Beasts prove to be any easier to stop than Hitler’s?

We know that the leaders of the mainstream media have largely been co-opted and corrupted by the Obama administration. They will not even attempt to break the high and soundproof stone walls that they have helped to build around Obama’s many scandals. These include Operation Fast and Furious, IRS political targeting, the intelligence agencies illegally spying on Obama’s perceived political enemies, and so on. Breaking the American Pravda embargo against truthful reporting is a lost cause.

But are there no actively serving (or even recently retired) military generals or members of the federal Senior Executive Service who retain a shred of honor? Who will place Duty, Honor and Country ahead of paycheck, pension, and self-promotion? Is there not one real hero left with stars on his shoulders?

Not even one?

13. A CALL FOR ANSWERS

General Petraeus, where is your book? Is your agent planning to release it in a few years to maximize its profits? Aren’t you already making a ton of money sitting on all of those boards? Only a coward and scoundrel (like a certain recent Secretary of Defense) would wait to release a book only after its information was too late to prevent disaster. And knowing what I now know, I would not be surprised to learn that threats had been made against your family in order to ensure your silence. After all, gangsters rule our government today. It’s the Chicago Way.

But General Petraeus, before your book finally comes out, possibly after many years, can you please answer two very simple questions? Put your answers on the public record now, instead of waiting for your book, when it’s too late to matter. As a man of honor, please answer these two questions sooner, rather than later.

1. Where was President Barack Obama on the night of the Benghazi attacks, hour by hour, dusk ’til dawn?

2. Does President Obama’s mysterious MIA status on the night when his “good friend” Ambassador Chris Stevens and the other Americans were being killed relate to his failure to grant “cross-border authority” for an external rescue mission? Necessary permission that only the president, in person, can give? Did President Obama literally hide, so that no external rescue could be mounted? A rescue that might have turned into a “Blackhawk Down” disaster just weeks before the election? General Petraeus, an honorable man would not hesitate to put these facts on the record.

The American people deserve to know exactly what kind of man their Commander-in-Chief is. The fact that years after Benghazi we still don’t know the answers to those questions indicates that we are far along in the process of losing our freedom, with the mainstream media and the intelligence services colluding in the establishment of tyranny.

History will judge us very harshly if we don’t find a way to stop Obama’s Garden of Beasts from fundamentally transforming the United States into a one-party socialist dictatorship, while we watch it happen, helpless to resist. We watch and we wait, like insects already injected with paralyzing poison and wrapped in silk, awaiting the spider.

How can we escape from Team Obama’s web of deceit?

Sad. Very sad.
I suppose that Holder will also bring charges against those responsible for Fast and Furious, the IRS scandal, hacking Sharyl Atkisson’s compiter, and Benghazi.

Ok NYT, then you will want to recommend prosecution of Boxer, Feinstein, Leahy, and Schumer for leaking state secrets too, right?

If not, no problem Pinch, you are already on the list.

The authorities can go after David Petraeus, but they cannot go after Eric Holder.

What is wrong with this picture?

Its in Color and not Black and White?

Agreed, but it was team Obummer who purposely set him up with a honey trap. The people behind the trap are even more guilty than the General who took the bait. They wanted something they could take the General down with so they sent Broadwell his way. I am convinced this is how it happened. Ask Broadwell how much money she got for entrapping General Petraeus?

Just the fact that they can talk about "felonies" that they want to prosecute Petraeus over should tell every American that's not a part of the government that the government and its "Justice System" is at war with the average American.

They now have enough "laws" to prosecute ANYONE for ANYTHING. Plan accordingly.

Consider them enemies intent on harming you & yours, and do the Nathan Bedford Forrest thingee.

Bingo. Petraeus could do far more damage to Team Obummer with what he knows. This is why team Obummer went out of their way to honey trap him to discredit him.

[This is dumbfounding.]

Though David Petraeus seemed content to work for the Obama Administration there was news media speculation that he would eventually run as a Republican for president. This would likely be in 2016. The administration could have concealed the Petraeus scandal but they exposed it at a time when Petraeus appeared to question the White House Benghazi talking points. The scandal allowed Obama to remove Petraeus as a potential Benghazi critic and spike him as a future threat to a Hillary presidential run. Eric Holder has dragged out the investigation this long because it gags all the witnesses including Petraeus from publicly commenting on the case. If this story is a warning to Petraeus from the White House it is a weak and perhaps desperate gesture. It may be Petraeus has a book ready to release.
