Mark Steyn on the Charlie Hebdo Terrorist Attacks
Hugh Hewitt ^ | 9 Jan 2015 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 01/10/2015 3:08:01 AM PST by Rummyfan

MARK STEYN: These men were exceptionally brave. Most of the people expressing solidarity with them are not that brave. I'm not that brave....

But I wasn't asked to die for it like these guys were. And to be honest, it makes me vomit to see people holding these Princess Dianafied candlelit vigils, and using the hashtag #JeSuisCharlie - I am Charlie -and in effect appropriating these guys' sacrifice for this bogus solidarity. It makes me sick to see all these 'the pen is mightier than the sword' cartoons that have appeared in newspapers all over the United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Australia, everywhere, from other cartoonists, again expressing solidarity with these very brave men - but not doing what they did...

These guys are dead because back in 2005, these Danish cartoons were published in an obscure Jutland newspaper, and a bunch of fanatics went bananas and started killing people over them. So a couple of publications on the planet, including mine in Canada, and Charlie Hebdo in Paris, published these cartoons... Le Monde didn't, and the Times of London didn't, and the New York Times didn't, and nobody else did. And as a result, these fellows in Charlie Hebdo became the focus of murderous rage. If we'd all just published them on the front page and said "If you want to kill us, you go to hell, you can't just kill a couple of obscure Danes, you're going to have to kill us all", we wouldn't have this problem. But because nobody did that, these Parisian guys are dead. They're dead....

And all these people doing the phony hashtag solidarity, screw your phony hashtag solidarity. Let's have some real solidarity - or if not, at least have the good taste to stay the hell out of it.

He’s right. In fact, by next week, this will all have been forgotten. People will have had their little emotional moment, like Michelle Obama holding up her “”#bring back our girls” sign, and the bodies will be cleared off and the streets hosed down, and we’ll just go back to accepting the fact that, well, Muslims are like that, there’s nothing we can do, and we just have to hope that they don’t catch us personally next time.

As Daniel Henninger pointed out in his article in the WSJ this week, there is never serious outrage that demands action from the governments and leaders of the attacked people. They’re just told to suck it up and shrug off the losses, and not a single government or individual leader does what only they can do: a serious, crushing military attack on any foreign country where Islam breeds terrorists, and a massive purging of their own countries of all traces of Islamists, be they foreigners or even native converts, leaders of mosques or prison Muslim groups, or anyone else even remotely connected with the war Islam is waging on the world.

...

Boko Haram slaughtered thousands this past week. That sign was effective, wasn’t it?

Steyn is correct - nothing will improve. I walk by the TVs in lobbies and see hundreds of hours of navel gazing by "experts" on FOX, CNN, MSNBC, etc. Their words and all their "analysis" comes to nothing.

What has been needed to years, and what needs to happen, it is return to Christianity by the powers of the West, and a war against Islam (which is at war with the West but West will not acknowledge it).

Just a few years after 911, where thousands of Americans were murdered, our nation elected a man named Barack Hussein Obama that we now know is 100% Muslim, and has fueled the rise of ISIS and extremism in the Middle East. The result has been torture, death, rape, and enslavement for tens of thousands of Christians, and war throughout the region.

This incident is simply a water mark in the long war, a war we allowed through Multi-Culturalism and Political Correctness.

It’s unnerving. It’s like watching the Nazis march across Europe - and it took the U.S. how many YEARS later to get involved?

I fear we, as a Nation, have been so numbed-down, so DUMBED-down that until it interrupts everyday life for those in power here, nothing will come of this.

When I let myself think on this for more than a few minutes at a time, it’s downright terrifying. I cannot beleive 0bama was elected in the first place, not to mention a 2nd term.

We’re so screwed.

The PC papers don’t want to offend their true buddies. They never are bothered by publishing things offensive to Christians or Jews.

MS: Yes, and I think it’s at war with a culture that basically does not have the spirit of liberty and the spirit of intellectual inquiry. So you can come up with the most devastating, witty, trenchant argument, and the other fellow is just going to reach for the scimitar and slice your head off. And that calls into question, I think it does call into question as to whether Europe, in allowing Islam to nest within Western pluralistic democracies, has actually placed an existential question over its future. That’s a real question for France today.

The highlighted part says it all. And why are we doing it too? Both parties are heavily to blame for allowing this scum into America

Time to show the Muslims some backbone.

Remember what Black Jack Pershing did in the Philippines?

http://reaganiterepublicanresistance.blogspot.com/2011/12/usmc-general-john-black-jack-pershing.html

I suggest we do the same today, starting with the three in France.

Will the press scream, of course. And when they do, simply point out that they are supporting terrorism.

Is this lowering our selves to the level of the terrorists?
Yes it is and that is what the fear, being treated as they treat us.

No paradise, no 72 virgins...just fewer wankers.

The pen is mightier than the sword. Entire nations have been subjugated by nothing more than a group of twenty-something writers broadcasting an endless stream of lies over a network.

The history books will probably never be written, but if they were they would analyze the downfall of the West and say what freepers and others are saying now.

Freedom holds the seeds of its own destruction—or its own victory. That’s what “free” means.

I feel so smart when I find out my initial impressions matched those of Steyn....
It all boils down to meaningless ceremony, feel good “activism” and hollow sentiments...
I hate this age in history!!!

Don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m headed this weekend out to a farm where I will set up targets & practice pistol firing. Then I will get in my car and practice firing at those targets from the driver window, then stop & fire from behind the open car door. Then fire out the passenger window. Rapid reload; wash, rinse, repeat.

I should mention there is a Star of David in my car window with the words “Genesis 12, 3”. Sooner or later there’s bound to be a response.

No hand wringing for this “infidel”.

Countries who have small populations of Muslims puff up their chests because they are so “enlightened and inclusive”.

Once the Muslim population gets to levels where they stop assimilating and start demanding concessions, it’s at the tipping point. Once the concessions are firmly in place, it’s too late.

France’s Muslim population is about 8%. Their hands are tied now. If they crack down in any way, shape or form, there will be anarchy.

A course of action for them to take now is to stop all immigration from the hotbeds of the Muslim jihad. Also, they must ban any Muslim who travels to a hotbed of Muslim jihad from reentering the country.

If they don’t take even these basic steps, their country is doomed.

As usual, Steyn makes me think.

you almost get the impression now that the Western appeasement crowd are in fact willing to be Islam’s enforcers in the West.

I've long been struck by the similarities between lefties and jihadis in their hatred for western values. I now fear an alliance between these otherwise dissimilar forces.

The recent participation in the anti-NYPD marches by the residue of Occupy Wall Street portends future actions. Who better than BO, Holder, and the media to coordinate activities - and use political correctness to protect the flanks?

Whether a failure of will by the West - or an urge to "transform" it in some utopian fantasy, it all ends up in the same place.

Secular totalitarians [socialists] and religious totalitarians [mohammedans] aren’t that into sarcasm, Mark. The former, sometimes when it dovetails with their agenda…the latter, not so much…no nuance there.

Totalitarians take offense to ridicule.
