“a hard line against immigrants including Dreamers. This may hurt the GOP’s chances in the 2016 election.”

Yeah, boy. American workers desperately want to continue the mass importation of foreigners to take away their jobs. And, for those Americans who have been able to hold onto a job, it’s just dandy to import masses of lower paid foreigners in order to depress wages further.

These political analysts are brilliant.

These so-called journalists don’t have a clue,do they? This isn’t going to hurt the GOP at all in 2016 - but, will cement victory for them. Stupid arses!

I’m a believer in the possibility of redemption. But I’ll need more than words from Boehner, I’ll need to see the right and effective actions.

I’ll judge Boehner and his compadres based upon their “fruit” and not by their words (which may be meaningless in the end).

If Boehner gets the Aderolt bill through the House pretty much intact, I’ll be impressed!

I’ll believe it when I see it, AND see it last.

Until then, no way.

You’re correct, Boehner cannot be trusted. But at least lets see how this plays out and if he acts in favor of our conservative instincts then let’s give credit where credit is due and let our Tea Party reps know that they must keep Boehner’s feet to the fire on other issues too. The question is this though, if Boehner is going to get 13 Dems on board for a veto override it will take some horse trading with the Dems who are even willing to talk about a veto override vote on Keystone, Obamacare or Immigration. What are any of you going to accept as a compromise to get those Dem votes on any of these issues.
>
Personally, I think Boehner will not have to do too much horse trading for a veto override on Keystone, the Dems are being pressured by their own constituencies on that issue, it will still take a Republican gesture to get the votes but not much. On the issues of Obamacare and Immigration, I think we can only win on one and expect to get enough override votes - (on Immigration) - but it would take a lot of horse trading for that. I think it best that any vote on Obamacare be symbolic - (Boehner would never be able to get enough Dems to vote for a override on this) - but Obamacare is likely to get a death blow from the USSC and with the electorate with all the cancellations that are about to happen due to the employer mandate now in effect. We can probably get Keystone and Immigration passed even against a veto but will not be able to get all three.

OOPS, Boehner needs about 20 House Dems for an override, it is the Senate that needs 13 Dems to override a veto.

This is another example of why the “far right” [stupid media interpretation] needs to up the rhetorical ante on this immigration game.

It needs to be suggested that Republicans and Democrats have been importing human slaves for their capitalistic agendas of privilege.

This is “anti human trafficking legislation”

The Left and Right engage in human trafficking because they seek to crush the wages of the middle class and deprive them of employment.

This is an independent middle class political initiative to stop human trafficking that tries to destroy economic opportunity for the middle class.

This would improve the prospects of Cruz and others advocating limits on “immigration.”

My question is, what rolled him to do the right thing all of a sudden? It certainly wasn’t conviction.

What correct buttons did Gohmert and Yoho press to unlock his combo?

Even though 90 percent of the Republicans in the House voted to re-elect him speaker, John Boehner has decided to appease the 25 right-wing Republicans who voted for someone else.

I choose to look at it as siding with the voters who demanded an end to open borders and Obamacare, but Establishment mileage may vary.

The article says: “This may hurt the GOP’s chances in the 2016 election.”

I’m sure they hope that’s the case. The truth is if they don’t stop it they’ll never win another election even if EVERY MODERATE and EVERY CONSERVATIVE in the country voted for them.

From some reports it seems that after the vote and the threatening of punishment against those who voted against Boehner, the R leadership was inundated with emails and phone calls from their constituents supporting the Conservatives.
>
Still the fact remains that we will not get everything we want in this Congress, some compromises will have to be made to make incremental progress. I Believe the R’s should go all out to win on Keystone and get whatever positive deal we can on Immigration. If we win the Presidency in 2016, those issues can be revisited.
>
Right now the overall strategy should be to show the Tea Party/Conservative base that Leadership will fight the fights that they think they can win, and that base must be willing to accept the fact that we cannot get everything we want right now. Also the R leadership much convince the Independents, now the leading declared voting group, that they can govern and get things done. Remember 55% to 60% of Independents are self-labeled as Conservative or Lean Conservative. Those are the people who have gotten so disgusted with the GOP leadership that they switched party affiliation from R to Independent. They are a large voting block who are normally R voters except for the current, and rightful, disdain for R leadership. But they are persuadable but only through good faith efforts and actions and the shown ability to an electoral victory into some political victories and move things in a conservative direction for once. I hope Boehner and his strategists understand this fact and act accordingly.
