Hollande asked Netanyahu not to attend Paris memorial march

French President Francois Hollande conveyed a message to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the weekend asking him not to come to Paris to take part in the march against terror on Sunday, according to an Israeli source who was privy to the contacts between the Elysees Palace and the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. The fact that this message had been conveyed was first reported by Channel 2.

After the French government began to send invitations to world leaders to participate in the rally against terror, Hollande’s national security adviser, Jacques Audibert, contacted his Israeli counterpart, Yossi Cohen, and said that Hollande would prefer that Netanyahu not attend, the source said.

Audibert explained that Hollande wanted the event to focus on demonstrating solidarity with France, and to avoid anything liable to divert attention to other controversial issues, like Jewish-Muslim relations or the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Audibert said that Hollande hoped that Netanyahu would understand the difficulties his arrival might pose and would announce that he would not be attending.

The source noted that one of the French concerns - not conveyed to representatives of the Israeli government - was that Netanyahu would take advantage of the event for campaign purposes and make speeches, especially about the Jews of France. Such statements, the Elysee Palace feared, would hurt the demonstration of solidarity the French government was trying to promote as part of dealing with the terror attacks.

France would do well to Ditch its quisling sell-out “leaders” asap. They can be sent to krapistan so they can keep kissing the backsides of their islamoNazi masters Then France has five or six million foreign enemy within to repatriate to their home countries. (Or else France can kiss its ass goodbye. It looks hopeless but I still have hope, if little confidence, that the French people will rise up and demand some leaders who will restore (resurrect) their nation.

What a rude miserable excuse for a leader Hollande is. I am so glad Netanyahu went, he is my hero.

What an inane non-story...a march. Big freakin’ whoop.

So a march, where purported world “leaders” participate is to somehow convey a message of “strength” to the world and the islamists?

If these “leaders” were really interested in demonstrating strength, they’d have started the cleansing of the “no-go zones” and the bombing of any islamist target anywhere in the world.

Force is the only thing these savages understand...

And I really like the parsing Holder included in his Security Summit comments...”...underlying causes of radicalization...”

Hmmm, I wonder, just what are those “underlying causes” you POS?

I smell more attacks against free speech by these commie pinkos in order to “protect” the thin skinned moslems from getting their feelings hurt.

The elite leaders of the world want a world system of economics that includes the Muslim world with their money, products like oil, and people to provide a pool of cheap labor.

Sometimes it is all about optics.

The absence of Obama or Biden says one thing to the world. The United States was absent when world leaders gathered in Paris to take a very public stand against Islamic Terrorism.

As Dubya said, “ Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists.”

Sadly, the global population will not differentiate between Obama and the United States. Obama by his absence sent a message to the freedom loving people in the world, the United States is with the terrorists.

The message to terrorists is the United States is weak, too cowardly to take a very public stand against Islamic Terrorism. The time to strike is between now and 2016 because the greatest damage will be done with a coward in the Oval Office.

I wondered yesterday (and today) if the March began as an organic grassroots uprising and so the French government had to take it over to make it look like it was in agreement with the people but more importantly to control the event and the resulting narrative.

That’s an interesting theory. The French do have a habit of having violent marches and protests.

The French are very weird characters.

With leadership like that Paris will fall again.

This March was really about trying to stop the rising tide of the so-called “Far Right” in Europe.

Note that Marine Le Pen was not invited to participate.

These feeble Western leaders had to do something to make it look like they oppose Islamic terrorism.

Ha’aretz must do its utmost to report negatively on Bibi, no matter what he does. They take a solemn event and sling mud against their own Prime Minister. This is a newspaper that should be used for defacative purposes only...

This was reported in all Israeli newspapers, not just Haaretz.

The embarrassment for Israel is Netanyahu having his security team muscle him into the front row of the march (he was to be in the second row) and turning this "solemn event' into a campaign stop.

The further embarrassment for Israel is Netanyahu taking this "solemn event" and using it to insult the French government by telling French Jews Israel is their home.

Benjamin Netanyahu turned this "solemn event" into a personal circus. Shame on him for standing on the remains of the murdered to again make a political speech to help himself, and only himself.
