Really unclear what is going on, but there is a HUGE police/fire response.
Previous thread was pulled due to "Copyright images". Not sure how that works on unprotected twitpics, but there you have it.
the word I got on “Mass Casualty Event” was that it referred to the number of people affected not that there were in fact any casualties.
the link for that got lost in the shuffle form the previous thread.
keep dozens of windows open at once is not the greatest way to keep track of stuff apparently///
Apparently, a train is disabled and something is on fire between L’Enfant, and Pentagon Station.
Twitter feed and numerous pics from someone that was on the train:

No word yet on what caused the smoke, but there have been no reports of any explosions, so presumably it was "just" a fire.
Nohting on FAX or CNN
Andrew Ames, spokesman for the FBIs Washington Field Office, said the FBI responded to the incident. He said it is standard protocol to respond. At this point it doesnt appear to be anything other than a fire.
9 years of on-and-off DC-area living left me with a love-hate relationship with the Metro system. Very convenient when it worked. A crowded degrading life-sapping mess when it didn't.
As an alternative, I used to commute by bike 13 miles each way from Bethesda as often as my legs could take it - my bike never broke down or burst into flames.
WMATA officials confirmed to ABC7 News.
Fire officials said passengers were removed from a disabled train inside of the tunnel. No serious injuries were reported.

One of two things .. either they are practicing for such an event (due to the threat of transportation attacks), or this was a test run by some of the terrorists, to see what the response was like.
I’ve voting for #1, and hoping I’m right.
that was one metro stop I rarely saw. it’s a big hub point though pretty much directly in the center of the system. No other hub has four lines coming into it like plaza does.
Major hangout for pickle sniffers trolling for sodomy. Maybe they ran out of lube in the men’s room, and the friction caused a combustible event.
