Did I just hear that right? Just a minute ago ESPN was running a video introduction of the game with a guy narrating and I could swear he just said 'in a time of inequity in this country' Blah, blah, blah 'one can say it's only a game' but blah, blah,blah ,' that's what it is 'A GAME......and so on. What the heck?
Maybe he said “iniquity.” Would be accurate.
The coming contest should actually be between either Baylor or TCU against Oregon. The inclusion of Ohio State was totally apolitical decision made for the ‘first’ playoff year. Ohio State is very lucky to be in this last game. If Oregon had a Lane Kiffin calling the offense, Ohio State would end up champions ... but Alabama is cursed with Kiffin, so Oregon will stomp Ohio State.
I didn't see it but I'll comment since I always comment without reading the articles.
I don't think it's a political statement.

I'd even put the game on pause if I thought I'd hear a straight answer. Too bad they can say crap like what we heard but lack the stones to ask a real question in hopes of hearing a real answer.
TCU should be in the game. That is the inequity.

Nobody in their right mind would have chose Baylor over any of the top teams. Now TCU had an argument, but then it comes back to the question of if you cant put Baylor in how could you put TCU in.

espn is political. I stopped watching it and cancelled cable.
Kiffin wants to win flashy. With the ball on the 24 of OU every play that followed first down should have been a running play ... but Kiffin has Blake throw it. Spare me, Kiffin was a ruinous chaos, at Tennessee, at Southern Cal, and now Alabama.
Considering the buildup and the entrance on to the field, that was the most underwhelming performance of the National Anthem I have heard. Respectful but low-key.
