Isakson, Perdue intro Fair Tax Act of 2015
Hometown Headlines ^ | 01.13.2015 | John Druckenmiller

Posted on 01/13/2015 12:15:27 PM PST by Prov1322

Media release:U.S. senators David Perdue, R-Ga., and Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., on Tuesday introduced the Fair Tax Act of 2015 to promote freedom, fairness and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national sales tax.

Perdue, a member of the Senate Budget Committee and an original co-sponsor of the bill, said: “In order for America’s economy to thrive in today’s international economy, we must remain competitive. Instituting the FairTax will level the playing field and make America the best place in the world to do business. The FairTax is smart policy that will help protect hardworking Georgians and all American taxpayers.”

“Our tax code is a burden on families and a drain on small businesses,” said Isakson, a member of the Senate Finance Committee who has co-sponsored legislation to repeal the tax code and to establish a national sales tax during every session of Congress since being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2005. “Our current tax code punishes hard work and productivity, and the recent scandals surrounding the Internal Revenue Service’s politically motivated targeting of grassroots citizen groups is even more proof that no federal government agency should be trusted with this much power. Moving to the kind of system outlined in the Fair Tax of 2015 is a no-brainer. It’s time that we simplify our tax code, abolish the IRS, and create a more simple way to pay your fair share.”

The Fair Tax Act of 2015 would repeal all federal personal income taxes, corporate income taxes, payroll taxes, self-employment taxes, capital gains taxes and gift and estate taxes, and replace those with a revenue-neutral, personal consumption tax on all retail sales of new goods and services.

And the government piggies will have even MORE money to slop around in.

Quit sending those piggies up there, or go physically remove them. Choice is good.

>> Quit sending those piggies up there

OK. Not sending them, and giving the ones that are sent less money to play with, are not mutually exclusive tactics. They’re two prongs of the solution called “reducing government”.

What keeps them from raising the tax rate whenever they feel like it?

It’ll be enforced by a new federal agency, the Internal Fairtax Collection Agency, because, otherwise, every transaction will find a way to be wholesale.

Just the fact the Federal income tax codes currently costs US$1 TRILLION per year in compliance and economic opportunity costs (according to the Tax Foundation) is a huge reason why we need to repeal the 16th Amendment and replace the income tax with FairTax (or something similar).

Great minds think alike. I posted the same suggestion recently on another thread. I believe this method would rather quickly lead to a smaller federal government. I also believe this is more in line with what our Founders envisioned. However, a national retail sales tax could be more quickly and easily implemented. One drawback of the state apportionment is the chaos that would ensue as the various state legislatures scurry to find ways to generate the revenue needed to pay their tax liability. Of course, the positive outcome would be that state governments and their citizens would be made painfully aware of the humongous size and appetite of the federal government. Forcing the states to deal with the prospect of financing the bloated federal government would, by itself, make the apportionment idea worth a try.

Exactly, and it would encourage new ideas from the states and would encourage states to be competitive themselves.

The left wants the wealthy to pay for more than just the taxes they would normally incur.

No. The 16th Amendment is permissive; it allows an income tax and does not require and income tax.

The FairTax legislation calls for repealing the 16th Amendment within seven years of FairTax implementation.

Fro more info, see https://fairtax.org/faq.

You have no idea of which you speak!

No way FairTax will be implemented with an income tax still on the books!

Read the legislation; FairTax ABOLISHES the income tax and prohibits funding of the IRS within two years of passage.

I must keep reminding you Flat Tax Fools that the Flat Tax is an INCOME TAX! How is the income tax working out for you?

YOU have absolutely NO idea as to what you are talking about!

The TRUTH of the matter is that enactment of the fairtax is the ONLY thing that would insure against that which you fear!

And another FACT is that we will never again be a TRULY free people for so long as we continue to abide any form of the current Marxist income tax and the IRS!

We’ll never have a better shop at deep-sixing the IRS and cutting of the greatest weapon the Socialists have to control us via ‘blackmail’ on our reps.

Without owning them and without the ability to scare us into submission - plus WE would control the amountof tax we pay through our own purchase choices - FREEDOM.

WAshington would have MORE tax revenue when you eliminate the billions it takes to fund the IRS and salaries, et al - and EVERYONE paying tax - even the welfare couch potatoes, the drug pushers, the undergrounders, and the POLITICIANS who have loopholes up the wazoos, while at the same time, liking to buy everything NEW - They’d FINALLY be paying THEIR share.

And April 15th - just another day on the calendar. All we send in is a postcard listing the number of people in the household - no salary/income figures - nada. And EVERY SINGLE CENT of our paychecks - OURS. Not one cent deducted.

A consumer’s tax - and WE decide what we ‘consume’ - and anything bought secondhand - NO TAXES>

Take, for example: You buy a 2 month old car. The minute it first sold and drove of the lot - it’s value dropped dramatically - saving you big bucks. Now it’s “second hand” - NO taxes, because taxes were paid when originally sold.

You can do the same with almost everything you buy - except food and real necessities. But that is covered by the rebate.

WIN WIN.

For those of who say it can’t happen, that it’s a pipe dream - yeah, was so making America a free, sovereign country. We need to regain that freedom. Which mean we might have to bestir ourselves off the couch and educate and promote - and to demand from our reps. NOTHING gets done by just opining and cluck-clucking.
