Ted Cruz looking ‘very seriously’ at presidential run
Red Alert Politics ^ | January 13, 2015 | Staff

Posted on 01/13/2015 3:50:09 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Without giving too much away, Sen. Ted Cruz said Tuesday morning that he’s giving his own presidential aspirations a close look in advance of 2016.

“It’s certainly something I’m looking at very seriously, and I think we’re at a time of enormous challenge,” Cruz told FOX & Friends. “We are starting a national debate this year about the direction of the Republican party and about the direction of the country. I think the challenges facing us — they’ve never been greater. The Obama economy, it’s not working. Obamacare is a disaster. Our constitutional rights are under assault from Washington. And as we look abroad, it seems like the entire world is on fire right now.”

Cruz’s comments come a day after he delivered a well-received speech at the Heritage Foundation that explored both domestic and foreign policy issues. The Texas Republican pushed for a conservative agenda and cautioned against the “business as usual” politics of D.C. he has cautioned against frequently.

“For all the Republicans saying ‘let’s get things done,’ if we simply settle into business as usual in this town … we will demoralize the millions of men and women who came out in November,” Cruz said.

A bevy of other Republicans have publicly or reportedly talked about their 2016 prospects in recent days, with Sen. Marco Rubio (undecided) and Rep. Paul Ryan (out) commenting, and speculation rising that former Republican nominee Mitt Romney will launch a third consecutive bid. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was the first potential contender to make an obvious move toward running.

1. Leaving office for a higher aspiration is not Quitting.
2. Your perversion of the word should be embarrassing to you.
3. But then you're just trolling for attention.

Ted is the guy we need. There’s nobody else like him right now. We need him. He will make a great president. He’s bold and smart. conservative and unafraid. He can do the job how it needs to be done.

Resigning to run for a higher office/calling is not being a quitter.

My comments were more tongue-in-cheek, as many FReepers have called Palin a quitter, but not Cruz if he quits to run for President. But there is a grain of truth and hypocrisy mixed in. Like I said, Palin quit to avoid being ruined by the Left.

You just don’t like him. Admit it and stop being a coward about it.

Cruz supports unchecked legal immigration, increase in HB-1 visas and green cards, and supports the same "pathway to citizenship" that Rubio supports. I don't trust him on immigration.

Palin “quit” back in 2008. She became a TV star. Gave up any and all political aspirations forever.

Again, with the ridiculous false leftist narrative. These comments are beneath FR and should immediately be yanked by the Mods.

Palin quit in July of 2009, after it became clear she was being destroyed both politically and financially by leftist operatives using her own law she championed against her.

If she became a TV star, who cares? She's not in office anymore and can do what she wants, especially to recoup the money she lost defending herself.

CRUZ - MARTINEZ 2016... Liberal heads would explode.

That is why it is the perfect ticket. I would like to see Cruz name Martinez his running mate as soon as he declares. This would give her time to rock the base and build name recognition.

You don’t see the hypocrisy here? Why is Palin a quitter for legitimate reasons and sidestepped the Left, but not Cruz if he runs for President the same amount of time Obama has served in the Senate.

I did not mean she quit the governors office. I meant she quit politics all together.

She played conservatives like fools with her hints at running for president in 2012. She later had opportunities to run for Senate. In Alaska or even Arizona. But Nope.

She herself has made it clear that her glory days IN OFFICE are behind her. Her stepping down from the top seat in Alaska was but a small part of her resume.

Can you back this up please. That's the first I've ever heard of this.
Are you talking about supporting the long path to citizenship or Amnesty?

I like Cruz, but even those who detest him (Progressives) better know one thing up front: Ted Cruz has a brilliant mind. He will not be easy to defeat in a debate.

I’d like to see a Cruz - Rubio ticket.

Completely agree with you. I don’t do hero-worship, either. But I believe Cruz is a good, decent, courageous man, and a solid conservative.

All I'm doing is paraphrasing the propaganda BS of everyone else.
