HATCH, RUBIO, FLAKE CO-SPONSOR BILL TO INCREASE H-1B GUEST-WORKER VISAS
Breitbart ^ | January 13, 2015 | By Tony Lee

Posted on 01/13/2015 8:51:18 PM PST by Jim Robinson

On Tuesday, three Republican Senators joined three Democrats to introduce legislation that would expand the number of guest-workers for the tech industry even though there is a surplus of American high-tech workers.

The Immigration Innovation (“I-Squared”) bill, introduced by Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Chris Coons (D-DE), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), would also enable companies to hire an unlimited number of workers with advanced degrees from U.S. institutions in science, technology, engineering and math, which critics have said would turn some universities into diploma factories for foreign students. Currently, the first 20,000 H-1B applications for those with advanced STEM degrees are exempted.

Hatch said he hoped the bill could be a gateway to “more progress” on a broader immigration bill.

“I’m calling on everyone — the President, members of both parties, and stakeholders in the tech community – to support this bill and help make it the first step towards real immigration reform,” he said in a statement. “We must find make concrete progress to solve some of the many critical problems facing our nation. I-Squared is an obvious solution to an undeniable need, and I want to work with everyone to get it done now.”

In addition to increasing the annual cap on H-1B visas from 65,000 to 115,000, the bill would reform student visas, “authorize employment for the dependent spouses of H-1B visas holders, and allow a grace period for foreign workers to “change jobs and not be out of status.” It would also, among other things, allow for the recapturing of green cards “that were approved by Congress in previous years but were not used” and dependents of employment-based immigrant visa recipients, U.S. STEM advance degree holders...

Well put; I think the Supreme Court said as much when it referred to ObamaCare as a tax. TV commercials for it here in NJ show a rainbow of people (including imports), though only the one white guy refers to a subsidy. We also had a billboard (100% in Spanish) touting “You may qualify for a subsidy”; just shipping them in to work as serfs for our ruling class...

...three Republican Senators joined three Democrats...

At this point my ire-filled stomach began churning.

I no longer rant 'what is it with these people?', because I know full well: they are career politicians.

Just great. Here in northern Arizona, a mostly liberal area in a mostly conservative state, our representation in Washington consists of Senators John McCain-R and Jeff Flake-R, and Congressman Ann Kirkpatrick-D. At least Kirkpatrick is honest enough to classify herself as Democrat (sadly appropriate for the district), while our Rino senators just piss away America as if they were Democrat party leaders.

So just as though I still live in California, I pay federal taxes while not being represented.

Time to send more input to the senators. Flake never responds, and McCain always sends the polite thank you note, and adds me to his e-mail list.

So did you like that flavor of leftist koolaid the subversives trickled down your delicate throat?

We have had and continue to have a uniquely American culture, and that culture was embedded in our country by WASPs.

That culture is the culture of freedom, individual responsibility, sacrifice of the Self for others, Judeo-Christian ethics, law and justice, and the concept of private-property ownership and keeping the fruits of your own labor.

That culture has been under assault for well over a century, and it began in Europe who, loathing America’s success, condescendingly declared that America has no culture and is uncouth, simply because we did not have the long history that European nations had.

When the Marxists/Progressives/Socialists fully launched their war on America, a large part of that war included the anti-establishment, counterculture movement. This movement was designed by Soviets to subvert American culture and destroy it. They knew that American culture was too strong and too much loved not only by Americans buy by people all over the world who saw America as the last bastion of the type of life that a loving God designed for us. So those Soviets first had to collapse our culture from within before they could replace that vacuum with their own culture.

This included an assault upon many fronts: class warfare, an attack on traditional roles of masculinity and femininity, an attack on the Judeo-Christian definition of marriage, revisionist history, private property, self-reliance, charity, and self-sacrifice, to name but a few.

Yes, the left has been exceedingly, terrifyingly successful in this war they launched on American culture.

But to deny that America has (and still does have, if we can maintain it) a unique culture that had been the envy of the world before the 1960s, is ignorance to put it mildly.

Quite frankly, it disturbs me to hear someone claiming to be a conservative aping the leftist mantra that there has been and there is no American culture.

Everything the WASPs put in place is still alive (barely) and still functioning (barely). That is why the leftists with Obama as their current Subversion Czar is now running a blitz to kill and buy our American culture once and for all.

P.S. Other than my followup rant, I agree with your post. We are following the same path that France followed. Now the French are crying in their espressos at the ‘bad guys’ in their country. Well, they and their Socialism and their turning away from traditional values forced the country to admit those bad guys to support the economy.

This is all I need to know about Marco (Polo!) Rubio.

We don’t need H1-B visas, we need more science and engineering graduates from our own colleges.

Why don’t we have them? Because the jobs pay so little in comparison to the amount of study required.
Why is that? Because the Indians and Pakis work so cheap!

Yes, the purpose of the H1B was to provide employees with skills native citizens did not have, like maintaining obsolete technology and the like...

There is NO way you can justify hiring someone on an H1B visa to write code in Java etc... and not be breaking the law, but they do it every day.

You want to know why the middle class is dying, look no further than Washington. I don’t care which party it is, both are nothing more than tools for the oligarchy. Rubio, Hatch, Flake et al should be ashamed of themselves, but they won’t be, the election last fall was to stop the abuse of government power and obamacare, and right out of the gate they go for screwing over the middle class once again....

Until something or someone cleans the swamp that is DC, on both sides of the isle, there is little chance this nation will ever return to the glory it once had.

WTF? Really? I finally get it that the GOPe is bought by business. Now, I see what the Libs have been whining about for so many years.

Two questions:
1. We don't have enough graduates in the above fields to accommodate Silicon Valley while they are laying off workers? What about all the Asians who study here and go on to work at our tech companies? Not enough?
2. Since we just learned that 40% of illegals are those who have over-stayed their Visas, we need more? Pfft.

I'm not against legal immigration to fill jobs that our dumbed-down American students can't do with their idiotic social majors, but I just don't believe that we need to increase Visas. I've read too often that engineering/science degrees are going to waste in this economic downturn with such working menial jobs. Again, WTF?

Hatch you're part of the problem and not the solution. Go away.

In talking with an IT business manager, I was informed that the US education system is not producing enough IT pros; the H-1B Guest Worker Visas enable them to do work in the U.S..

Damn, from what I’m reading here, he must be mis-informed. /s

Sounds like that is a station willing to state the truth. Kudos to 'em! Wasn't a liberal station was it? Gee, this is becoming traps. The mine field just grew larger.

It was a conservative station, but it was the first time one actually called Flake a traitor, and then went on to prove his point, by naming the companies who own him.
