Further evidence that if the Senate leadership wants to marginalize a member who wants to reduce government then the quickest way to do it is give him chairmanship of a committee that spends money.
Why don’t you come out and honestly tell us who your candidate is?
"We must refocus our investment on the hard sciences, on getting men and women into space, on exploring low-Earth orbit and beyond, and not on political distractions that are extraneous to NASAs mandate. I am excited to raise these issues in our subcommittee and look forward to producing legislation that confirms our shared commitment to this vital mission."
~Senator Ted Cruz!!
While I sorta understand your point; please point out one government agency, committee, anything, that doesn’t spend money.
At least he’s trying to return NASA to its core core mission: space exploration and not Muslim outreach. And having to rely on Russia for rides to space is down right embarrassing.
Now if you don’t think there should be a NASA, fine. But as long as we have one, let’s get them back on mission. SpaceX and Virgin Galactic aren’t quit ready for prime time. They’re working on and I’m all for private enterprise reaching for the stars.

It was all part of Turtle’s plan to get Ted Cruz the moniker “Guy who hates science” in the national discussion....
Ted has creatively side stepped this indirect attack, and we shall see his plans.
