Academic Take on Family Life

When academics offer recommendations on how to strengthen families, they usually involve making left-wing policies stronger.

At the Center for American Progress (CAP) on Monday, January 12, 2015, George Washington University law professor Naomi Cahn endorsed the think tank’s recommendations for “strengthened American families” which included a higher minimum wage and a higher earned income tax credit (EITC).

“Most studies have found that the entire net effect of an increase in minimum wage results in a slight decrease in employment,” the University of Vermont found. “A 10 percent increase would most likely lead to only a 1 percent reduction in employment.” How would you like to be part of that one percent?

As for the EITC, “The Internal Revenue Service handed out $14.5 billion in earned income tax credits in error, or about 24 percent of the $63 billion in refundable EITCs in 2012, according to a report released Tuesday by the IRS’ auditor,” M. D. Kittle reported on Watchdog.org, a site maintained by the Franklin Center.

As well, Cahn thinks we should, “make sure that contraception is available to young men and women in order to plan their futures.” As well, she supports “increasing access to birth control and reproductive services,” the latter frequently a code word for abortion clinics. She does not think much of abstinence education.

...included a higher minimum wage and a higher earned income tax credit (EITC).

So they'll have a little more to spend on smokes, liquor, drugs...

In 1973, they were arguing how abortion would solve all of societies ills.

Musta been the wrong solution.
