There was a day when the Catholic Church deserved all the derision, satire, and parody that could be manufactured.

Voltaire: “Francis is an ass.”

I find it amusing the lengths people will go to in order to argue on the internet.

“Ooooh....,I cannot fall asleep tonight unless I show up this guy on Free Republic.”

FR is too full of idiot evangelicals for its own good.

Patriot does not equate to born again.

...Elisha cursed some 42 small children for making fun of him being bald-headed and a couple of bears came and ripped them to pieces.

Interesting.

I don't claim to have ever "studied" the bible, but I thought I had read most of it, and didn't remember that.

After reading one English translation of that, my curiosity is piqued. I would love to read other, more ancient translations to see how the original (Hebrew?) phrase has been translated over time.

Now on my list of things to do.

For a guy who wants us to stop insulting people, you sure throw out plenty yourself.

I find it amusing the lengths people will go to in order to argue on the internet.

Specially about religion.

I suspect dozens (hundreds?) of PHD dissertations in psychology must exist analyzing that most common of human failings, ...the irresistible urge to dictate rules of conduct (or belief) over others.

Often including violence in one form or another.

An incompetent translation; what he said in Italian, was anyone who insults my mother can "expect a fist." A subtle difference perhaps, but clearly a metaphor.

Excellent point! If my little Italian aunts were taken literally, when I was a kid and misbehaved, I might not be here to have this discussion! : ) It's nuance, metaphor, context, gesture, and "losing something in the translation!"

Peace be with you!

The last 112 Popes may be defined in a decade, or in year 2525...

Publius, I've read St. Malachy's prophecies. I'm not certain what you mean. My copy isn't handy right now: JPII was "of the labor of the sun"; Benedict XVI was, "of the glory of the olive"; is Francis "Peter the Roman", or am I missing one? He also wrote a paragraph re: the last prophecy. I'm kind of confused on where you stated the dates came in. Is it because he did not begin with Peter, Linus, Cletus, et al? Would you clarify a little, please?

Thanks, and God bless!

JUST TO CLARIFY: My response to you, #108, was in response to your post #4. Sorry!

God bless!

does this mean it is okay for Catholics to burn down Hollyweird and the MSM??

Does what mean that it is okay for Catholics to burn down Hollyweird and the MSM?

I don't believe that anything I wrote could remotely be interpreted as meaning that.

Have you perhaps confused me with a different poster?

Regards,

I'm not sure what publius911 means either, but dutifully add his to my collection of opinions.

Regarding St. Malachy's prophecies, I've not read them yet, just snippets here and there and other people's commentaries on them. My book list is growing rather long and I'm a slow reader.

Personally, I am fascinated by the world's historical timeline of events, my own life experience and where current events seem to be headed and past and current prophecies, whether from the Bible, the messages in TLIG, Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce or the many prophecies from Catholics and other religious and non-religious people throughout history.

As a non-believer and now believer, I think the Book of Revelation/Apocalypse is a difficult book to figure out, but know it's how the story ends. My interest/curiosity is figuring out where we might be within that story.

I've read that we are close to an ending, and figuring out whether that timeline is in "God time" or "human time" is tough to do, but I personally think we're close to that ending in both time frames.

If you can’t figure that out, you’re hopeless.
