Penn State's football team is getting back 112 wins wiped out during the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal and the late Joe Paterno has been restored as the winningest coach in major college football history. The NCAA announced the new settlement with the school weeks before a scheduled trial on the legality of the 2012 consent decree it will replace.

You know damn well JoePa knew ALL things going on in his house. That was his claim to fame. The iron fist...the JoePa. He turned a blind eye, knowing full well Sandusky was critical to his success in the 90’s. Joe knew this, and it accelerated his death.
It’s his duty to ensure those working under him in HIS facilities are abiding by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Did he follow up with security, knowing full well reports of Sandusky’s actions were already reports? What exactly did Joe do to ensure HIS house was clean???
That makes him an accessory, an enabler, and an evil man. And to think I was a huge fan of his for nearly 3 decades.
According to who? You? You just make shit up and treat it as fact.
Nice try. Have a nice cry in your Lone Star for me tonight, loser.
“Why did the js prosecutor say on national television that JVP was not part of any sort of cover up?”
Uh, that is NOT what he said ....
Joe knew ALL things? He didn’t seem to know he was getting fired.
You all are delusional.
“According to who? You? You just make shit up and treat it as fact.”
According to the JS prosecutor.
I'm not saying that Paterno didn't deserve to be fired, but the way they did it (10 minutes before their public meeting via a phone call) was to deflect blame from Graham Spainer, the PSU President who was the real culprit in the entire affair. By throwing in Paterno's firing (with two football games left in his final season) and giving Spainer, but not Paterno, the opportunity to give the media a nice prepared statement after the meeting, the PSU Board succeeded in making the PSU Football program the scapegoat rather than the sorry, gay-coddling, homo-enabling PSU Administration.
“According to who? You? You just make shit up and treat it as fact.”
According to the FREEH report.
What planet do you live on? Joe is the KING of the Happy Valley. He knew he was going to get canned, I guarantee you that.
There isn’t a sports facility on earth in Centre County who isn’t connected to the Paterno family in one way or another.
Now, I ask you this. If Joe did the RIGHT thing and tapped Sandusky’s phone, and hired professionals to track his movement, much like most corporations do today when reports of illegality are raised, do you think Joe’s excommunication of the pederast in the 90’s would have stopped this fiasco in its tracks and made him even MORE of a hero than he already was???? I mean come on, that would have made him the highest mightiest coach on the face of the earth, and a fine upstanding man to boot.
Alas, that’s not what happened. Quite the opposite. It’s amazing what greed and filth does to a man.
Even the ncaa knows the freeh report is a crock of shit. They were about to get riddled in court because of their involvement in it and their acceptance of it. Thus this Hail Mary settlement.
The NCAA is the most worthless organization anywhere, and that’s hard to pull off. Their handling of Penn State was ridiculous, and their punishment was stupid. Glad to see sanity restored. If a coach broke the law, punish the coach. He’s in jail. End of story. Too many people that had nothing to do with this fiasco were punished. We need to start holding individuals accountable and not going on witch hunts.
Yes, he should have done more, blown the whistle and gone straight to the media where he still had capital to spend. But that's not how things are done in the higher education industry.
So, yes, he deserved to be fired for not doing what he admitted should've been done in the weeks before his death. But neither he nor the PSU Football program deserved to take the blame which the PSU Administration avoided with their carefully constructed homo-friendly atmosphere which was at the core.
Actually, ‘JoePa’ did report the problem to the school administration. They’re the folks who did nothing. Paterno had no power except to work around Sandusky.
” By throwing in Paterno’s firing (with two football games left in his final season) and giving Spainer, but not Paterno, the opportunity to give the media a nice prepared statement after the meeting, “
You are rewriting history.
They notified Paterno before the announcement.
They also announced that Spainer was fired.
Words that will rightfully remain together forever.
“Actually, JoePa did report the problem to the school administration. Theyre the folks who did nothing.”
Uh, JoePa discussed the issue with them. He didn’t ‘report’ it.
“Paterno had no power except to work around Sandusky.”
Paterno could have years earlier stopped Sandusky but he chose to hide a child moslester.
Everything’s cool now. Somebody must have un-raped the kids.
Wrong. Joe was the HEAD of his department, a multi-million dollar organization. His duty is to ensure HIS house is in order.
“Well I knew he was porking poor kids in my showers, but I reported it to HR, so I’m done.” doesn’t cut it in the real world. People go to prison for lesser crimes.
Yeah cuz you got to have permission to go to the Police.
(^^^That would be sarcasm)
The Paterno firing was handled as if it was an afterthought, to blow Spainer off the front page and deflect any blame on the homo friendly atmosphere which Spainer so carefully constructed and which kept Sandusky on campus for nearly an additional decade after he retired.
Congratulations for swallowing the bait as most of the sheeple have done.
Joe Paterno’s Center for Football and Child Rape was a poorly managed affair.
