Local news channels are reporting callers are telling them Melbourne Square Mall in Florida is on lockdown after shots were reported fired in the mall Saturday morning.
What's next, a block on "lockdown"? A town on "lockdown"?
I mean, yeah, I know, they're calling it "sheltering in place" for whole towns, but that's just semantics. When they start calling it "lockdown", will anyone notice?

I used to go their when my folks lived just north. Is it still the mall where old folks hang out?
I don’t know. But I do know that “on lockdown” is a euphemism for “martial law”.

Authorities with the Melbourne Police Department said there was a shooting inside the mall after 9 a.m. They said they have control of the situation.
A witness said the shooting happened in the mall’s food court and said two people were injured before the gunman shot himself.
The witness said five or six shots were fired.

The mall cops were I live are old and dothering and probably can't hit the side of a barn due to their cataracts...

Police said officers have control of the situation and the mall has been temporarily closed.
It is not known how many people were shot and the extent of injuries.
That’s a mightly peculiar way of looking at “there are bullets flying around, so we are not letting any shoppers into the mall for a little while.”

My son lives three miles from where they captured the Boston Marathon bomber. His town and the towns around where he lives were on lock down. No one was to come or go for that whole day. No swat teams in his immediate neighborhood but he just stayed home. He’s self employed so it didn’t disrupt his day but still scary.
Early in the morning, there may well be “mall walkers” about. Many of those are elderly.
Boston was Locked Down totally when they were looking for the bombers....the entire place was Locked Down...SCARY in a way.
