2nd and 3rd shift the scum starts prowling, the ones never seen in sunlight. If you're working near a section 8 any time at all can get hairy.
I was based in one store but because I was reliable I'd get called to other stores when some sorry kid didn't show up. Lots of overtime and supervisors griping about overtime. I just told them if they couldn't handle my paycheck they could keep the stores open themselves. No takers on that. It got to me, I finished a 70 hour week and ended up in the emergency room. In the hospital one day, told the doctor let me out, got to get to work. He said "you don't understand, you're not going back". After a week in bed I tried to work a shift, couldn't do anything but lean on the counter.
I got an overload of benzene hexachloride about 35 years ago. I was treating a crawl space for powder post beetles and the high pressure hose blew out. By the time I got out to turn it off I was soaked. When I got pneumonia it finished the job on my lungs.
Nothing can be done but relieve the symptoms a little. My best hope is a massive heart attack instead of gasping for air when it comes to that.
That is terrible Swampsniper. I would say though if you have not put hope in him already is to put hope in Jesus himself and know him personally.
It is amazing what some of us do for work and for others.
Good luck with the health issues; that’s rough. Is it something climate can play some part in relieving?
I see the young females working at 5 am in the convenience stores near me, and wonder how they (or their parents) can take the risk; we are between Newark and Jersey City, and the welfare populations in both are dangerous. Jersey City has had an expulsion project going on for over a decade now, and it has paid some dividends (attracting productive people, jobs, and the wealth that comes with that); Newark has no hope for that.
Wow. That’s some rough stuff. Glad you survived it and i’m glad you are around to post here on FR. Thanks for sharing a bit.
