Rolling Stone writer is too white and privileged for American Sniper
The American Thinker ^ | January 24, 2015 | By M Catharine Evans

Now that the movie bio of Chris Kyle’s life, American Sniper, is on track to set the record for having the biggest second-week box office for a January release, Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone has come undone. Evidently, the film is so over the target, it’s got some vile, hate-filled progressives running for cover and others like Taibbi doubling down.

In Taibbi’s latest Rolling Stone commentary, “American Sniper Is Almost too Dumb to Criticize,” the writer felt compelled to use the “ludicrous and idiotic” politics of the blockbuster film as a springboard for – what else? – a ludicrous and idiotic anti-war, Bush-bashing political diatribe.

"The only thing that forces us to take it seriously is the extraordinary fact that an almost exactly similar worldview consumed the walnut-sized mind of the president who got us into the war in question.

"It's the fact that the movie is popular, and actually makes sense to so many people, that's the problem."

Taibbi has another problem. And it’s personal. He admonishes director Clint Eastwood for including “crass stupidities” like a scene of a “shirtless buffed-up SEAL Kyle” and his screen wife “gasping at the televised horror of the 9/11 attacks.” Earlier in his punditry he refers to the “hunky Bradley Cooper.” Does the impudent word-slinger have issues?

Progressives like Taibbi have a real aversion to masculine men doing masculine things like taking out bad guys. The writer was befuddled when his fellow audience members in the “liberal-ass Jersey city movie theater” stood up and cheered after they watched Kyle make an impossibly precise hit on an evil sniper. The concepts of good and evil seem to irk Taibbi as well. . .

The Rolling Stone writer is yet another example of a LIBERAL, individual,
who couldn't pour pi$$ from a boot if the directions were written on the heel.

Folks....get out enmasse and catch this brilliant film and work of art!!!

In support of what you've stated:

"American Sniper" will be Clint Eastwood's most defining work as a director.

I've seen the movie. Superior movie making. On a 4-star scale I'd give it FIVE stars.

It's destined to become an American "Classic." Do not miss it!

Taibbi is on the wrong side of this issue, but he has done great work exposing the shenanigans of Wall Street and the financial world. I have no sympathy for Wall Street crooks.

What horrifies him is that the movies show American values and American soldiers in a true light.

If another man is defending his own family, they are threatened by the notion they may also be expected to as well.

More like they are threatened by the fact that they identify more with the attacker, and cringe at the notion of the intended victim fighting back.

The real difficulty is the fear on Taibbi's part that war can be black and white, that all the moral pretensions of the sophisticate don't amount to much when the shooting starts. Most veterans know this, all combat veterans do: it boils down to people who are trying to kill you and you, who are trying to stay alive. If it's women and children who are trying to kill you, yes, it can be a wrenching emotional tragedy at the time, but there isn't a great of moral ambiguity about it. The nightmares come later. And that's the point of the book, and of the movie, I take it, although I have yet to see it.

Taibbi doesn't get it. The moral ambiguity he senses, writing from his safe, secure ivory tower, is a luxury the combat soldier cannot afford. For Taibbi, it makes the combat soldier less of a man. And he's wrong.

Very perceptive. You nailed it.

I went to the same high school as Taibbi. I just missed overlapping with him. I was a middle-class kid amidst mostly rich kids.

After that high school sent me one their usual super-left-wing mailings asking for money, I wrote back and said “I’ll give X dollars for every graduate in this year’s class who’s going in the military.” Amazingly, they actually had one, so I paid up. They then asked “hey, we want to do a series of alumni profiles of people who served in the military. Can we do a profile of you?” I was just a reservist at the time, but they really needed some names. (In fairness, they did manage to find a few active-duty people—and they wrote a respectful article.)

Still, almost any public high school of the same size could have found dozens of people who served or have served active duty. After all, 24 percent of American males are veterans. Of course, that varies by age, but still, 12 percent of males in the 25 to 34 year-old range are veterans. These public schools wouldn’t have to rely on reservists to fill out the story. These folks from these eastern private schools just don’t have contact with people who’ve served.

The narcissist cannot stand the hero man, the man who backs people and who get people’s backing, because the narcissist is an incompetent parasite twerp dying for care and attention.

They claim they can care but no one wants them as a gay father.

He would not have your back, but ChrisKyle would. And that enrages him.

We understand that the like of Taibbi would rather call a difficult scrambled counter to a 911 surprize attack “stupid”, while being in awe of the 911 attack’s efficiency itself, smashing the head when in a feeble attempts of a nation to defend itself.

Of course he is never going to mock the stupid islamic videos. In fact they are fine with praising Che’s war, Islamic jihad conversion in our military, the war on poverty type idiocy...

Nahh, that would not be hip. It is hip to attack the self defense mechanisms of Americans, the natural self preservations, and instead promote fag scouting.
