Is Sarah Palin Too Toxic for 2016?
American Thinker ^ | 01/26/2015 | Lloyd Marcus

Posted on 01/26/2015 7:50:39 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Sarah Palin saying “Of course” she's interested regarding running for the presidency in 2016 has people buzzing. During that interview, Palin said we need a candidate who is ready for Hillary. I agree. Romney would be Mr. Nice Guy/gentleman unwilling to attack the girl.

As for Palin running, a woman wrote: “I have never given up on her (Sarah Palin). I am sooooooo hoping that she will be our spokesperson. My husband says the press and Obama have tainted her so much that it would be impossible for her to run. I say that 'with God, all things are possible.”

To this woman, I say, “Right on sister!” No offense to her husband, but I find his mindset frustrating. We complain that there are far too few politicians with the cojones to push back against Obama's unprecedented arrogance, lawlessness and tyranny. Despite their newly acquired control over the House and Senate, the GOP appears to be attempting to pull the wool over our eyes regarding amnesty. In their Spanish language response to Obama's SOTU, the GOP brought up immigration, desiring to “create permanent solutions” without mentioning immigration in the English version. What is up with that?

So tell me folks, how many politicians on our side truly are who they say they are; standing up for our principles and values – fighting for freedom and the Constitution? We lament that many politicians on our side are obsessed with winning an approving pat on the head from the MSM; reduced to political impotence. Oh if only there was a little blue pill for dysfunctional Republicans/conservatives.

All she has to do is announce that she's running and the whole thing changes...

Unfortunately, Palin has a reputation (deserved or not) of stringing people along. So Sarah, pick an early announcement date, and stick to it, such as "I will decide by March 1st."

So what if the media makes fun of Ted Cruz?

Do we have to ditch him then, too?

Like many in this discussion, I too believed that Sarah Palin's best time to run for President of the United States of America was in 2012 and, in a normal world, the 2012 Republican Party US Presidential nomination should have been hers for the taking. If Ronald Reagan was in her shoes, he would have run in 2012; however, Reagan was a male, and Sarah Palin was both a woman and a mother. As insulting as the Left was to Reagan, it never was as pornographically vile toward him as it was toward Palin, as the Alinsky-based Politics of Personal Destruction had not quite been perfected for Ronnie, as it was for Sarah. The other reality is that Reagan was not a mother, whose instinctive first-priority is to protect her young, upon whom the Left was looking to go wild on at every disgusting opportunity. Now that protecting her children is not as critical an issue as it was four years ago, Sarah Palin just might be ready to stand up to whatever the Left can dish out. Only time will tell.

Based on the fact that he is still nationally relevant. I like Sarah Palin, but she is not going to be president.

I know it wasn’t your intent so don’t get mad..........

Reagan was toxic to the GOP, not the country. Palin is the complete opposite. Had she not done the reality TV thing and written some books maybe she’d be in a better place.

She’s unelectable and I don’t say that because I don’t agree with her, but for my money Cruz is the best suited conservative, for his ideas and his presentation. Palin’s baggage is too heavy at this point.

He’s as close as Reagan as I think the modern party could ever get.

The online photo of her with the “FU” sign doesn’t add to her diminished luster.

If Cruz gets in, Palin’s endorsement of him will come shortly before the first primaries.

Palin would not endorse Cruz that early in the primary season, especially if Scott Walker and Rick Perry are in the mix. Supposing that Palin isn't running herself, she'll let those others duke it out.

Judging by their responses when her name is mentioned, there is also a very large segment of this forum that she is also toxic to also.

I gotta agree with your post #66. In 2008 I thought Palin was the next Reagan (see my tagline).

But since then there have been a series of unfortunate events. Some were of Palin’s own doing, many more were MSM set-ups. No matter, the damage is done.

I love Sarah, and I see her as a fantastic conservative spokeswoman, and perhaps also as a future US Senator. But as a presidential candidate...nope, I Cruz is the better choice.

I concur. I like her very kuch as spokeswoman.....as someone that points out the hypocracy of the left and exposes their true intention. She should be doing that all day everyday.

But her time as candidate has past.......I too am not willing to place all the blame on her. She still has some McCain stank on her and she was unfairly ribbed by the press.

But facts are stubborn and although we may like her, the majority of the country doesn’t see her in the same favorable light.

"She had a chance to run for the Senate."

Imagine the impact she could have in the senate.

She needs to re-build credibility before she can run for the highest office in the land.

I’ve got news for you. Ted Cruz isn’t going to get the nomination. He won’t even come close. Sorry. I like him but his place is in the Senate. The “eligibility issue” is going to haunt him at every step of his campaign. His GOP-e opponents and the national media will see to that.

‘We need to gain control of the word extreme.

Palin and Cruz are not extreme.

The house republicans who blocked a ban on late term abortions are extremists.’

Good points.

As long as we(the Conservative) talk personalities and speculate on election outcomes that are two long years in the future, we are playing the Liberals game.
When we talk of Sarah Palin, we need to focus on smaller, cleaner government, not crony capitalism, a lucid, thought out foreign policy backed by a credible military establishment, and the military backed up by an economic policy based on growth, real fairness, real jobs, lower taxes, tax reform and elimination and courageous social policies.
Sarah wins on all these.

RE: “...Never ever heard of a Democrat being too extreme,...”

EVERY Democrat is toxic to this Country at this point in time.

They’ve proven it.

Of course they will. Once the media makes a laughingstock out of him the same people will start calling you a Kool-Aide drinker and need to support the next candidate until you end up with Romney who the media will love.

The media is going to hate every one of these guys so why not give them a reason. It is easier to bash her than defend.

Sarah will probably have to be content making millions of dollars

Amazing how insulting it seems to be for a conservative to actually earn money the old fashioned way.

Do you know if she was aware of what was on the poster? By the way FUBO is all over this forum, it adds nothing to the debate.
