COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities said they have found two bodies believed to be those of a missing Cobb County couple after a long search Monday.

During a press conference late Monday afternoon, Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson said the bodies of a man and woman matching their description were found a short ways away from the car belonging to the couple. They said that car was found submerged in a lake.

"My heart goes out to the Runion family. We've done everything we possibly could do to get this family found, get their parents found, unfortunately it's a sad outcome, but hopefully there will be some closure knowing that they have been located," Sheriff Steverson said during a press conference Monday afternoon.

He probably thought the burner phone couldn’t be traced to him, however, he paid for it with a credit card, now he’s caught.

Exactly. I don’t know why people have anything to do with Craigslist. It’s virtually all fraudsters or worse trolling for victims.

I actually know a woman, who I thought would be smarter than that, who met and dated a man who came to look at an apartment she was advertising on Craigslist. He completely bamboozled her, got lots of money from her, and took her on a “weekend date” to a closed house in a resort town and said he had lost his keys (he had no connection with the house, except that he obviously knew it was going to be empty that weekend). This was after his “private jet” had not managed to make it to the airport, so they had to drive.

Somebody in the family hired a private detective and it turned out that he was an unemployed loser living with his wife and children in a dismal part of town and making money off of well-heeled lonely women. Well, at least he didn’t kill her.

You are quite wrong about craigslist. Yes there are scammers there but not everyone. I have baught and sold many items, big ticket items and have never had a problem .

Sure is a lot of jumping to conclusions here.

I have seen nothing yet to indicate foul play other than the suspicion no Mustang existed and the possibilities of what may have happened.

It is also quite possible they just drove themselves into the lake by accident after a 3 hour drive into unfamiliar territory.

You need to wait for more info.

Because the couple likely brought a big wad of cash in order to buy a car. I don't know why they couldn't have just robbed the couple without killing them... senseless.

Because they saw his face.

One relatively safe way to do a cash transaction is to have the guy meet you at your bank. Go inside, where he knows he will be visible on bank security cameras, take out the money, have him hand over the property in front of witnesses and bank cameras, hand the money over, it's done. You might even be able to have the bill of sale notarized there.

And as others have noted, have a good friend in the parking lot as armed backup and overwatch.

Because they do most of the time. The murder closure rate in this country is unfortunately low. Especially when it’s stranger murder, a little bit of care in covering one’s tracks is generally all it takes.

If my memory is correct, Craigslist has a RULE that any transactions have to be done in a PUBLIC AREA for one’s safety.

I thought you might be my ex-brother-in-law since I have a nephew that fits your description, but then I realized you’re in TN. (Wouldn’t it be surprising to find out you have a relative who posts on FR, that he or she had never told you about?)

It’s been heartbreaking to watch the demise of my once kind nephew. He’s in court-ordered rehab now. We are praying that he survives this addiction.

Yes, I’m sure that’s true, probably for small items. I’ve never known anybody who’s had a good experience on Craigslist, but a lot of the people I have met have been renting places, trying to sell big ticket items, etc.

I think the fraudsters probably look for people offering or seeking something that is relatively high-ticket. Usually, they don’t kill them but just defraud them. However, there have been a number of killings associated with Craigslist, to the point that there was the famous “Craigslist Killer.”

The picture of the one I saw was a White guy. None the less, he should be taken to an open field and told to start running.

Their bodies weren’t found in their vehicle but nearby. Maybe they jumped out right before it went into the pond and their vehicle ran over them.

Really???

This guy murdered them is my bet.
