The GOP's plan to fund DHS just failed. Now what?

The Senate just failed to pass a bill to fund Department of Homeland Security by forcing President Obama to undo his executive actions to protect unauthorized immigrants from deportation.

One Republican, Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV), voted with Democrats against the bill.

Congress and the president need to agree on a plan to fund DHS sometime before February 27th, when its current funding runs out.

If they can't agree on a funding bill, DHS will be in a technical shutdown — but around 85 percent of the department will keep coming to work as "essential" government workers or employees of fee-funded agencies.

There are 100 Senate Seats, 54 are Republican, and 2 are Independent, so that means there are 44 Dems. There must be 60 votes for a bill to pass, and 67 for it to be veto proof majority. Once the “NO” (Dems) hit 41, there was no way for it to pass, as it needed sixty votes. Therefore the BILL WAS BLOCKED.

When a Senator votes they call out how they voted and their last name. That way people know who voted how. C SPAN and other government channels show the process/vote.

“Make it RECONCILIATION”

Yes, are we missing something? Too logical? Too easy? Too work-able?

Or does McConnell need a way to let Obama win.

Really?
Didn't the GOP tell us quite clearly, just before the November election, that they were going to push amnesty?
Didn't the GOP show us, by passing the funding bill, that they have no intention of forcing smaller government?
Didn't the GOP show us, by their retention of Harry Ried John Boehner (sorry, I get confused)?
Didn't the GOP show us that they have no intention of ensuring the government plays by the rules by allowing the NSA a free pass on its domestic espionage?
Didn't the GOP show us that it has no intention, whatsoever, of financial accountability/responsibility by its financial actions and inactions over the last decade and a half?

In short, what we are seeing is not RINO, but the true face of the Republican party: McCain, Romney, Jeb Bush, and Boehner illustrate and typify the real Republican party
— they have no use for conservatives like you or I.

"The problem is where you need 2/3's of both houses"

Bull Shiite.

All it take is 50% +1 in the House to deny a POTUS money to do any and everything.

That is beyond dispute.

If the House does not appropriate the money, it cannot be spent AND NO OTHER BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT CAN PROMISE AN IOU FOR IT.

The GOP House can stop this anytime they wish.

So what if it gets “ shut down”? They are not protecting the homeland now, we’re being overrun, shut it down.

Nice spin, but the attempt didn’t fail - it was sabotaged by the ‘rats - now there should be a big press conference by the Republicans who have the microphone in congress to drive the point home.....
