The same stuff that is in effect and working for an unregulated press ... is also applicable as to what shows up on a web page. In other words what laws you can use to keep freedom of the press will work for web pages.

If I remember correctly, “net neutrality” was a concept either created or promoted by a Marxist professor named McChesney, and the Obama regime took it up as their mantra.

If anyone can find the earlier articles on this guy and net neutrality, could you either post them here at FR or provide the links in the “Comments” section. I’m not good at doing that.

Free expression through regulation. Even George Orwell didn’t think that one up.

To: All; anyone

Are they serious? Is there anything we can do to stop this illegal administration? I hate Obama and I hate the dims. I’m so sick of having to pay for everyone else through higher taxes. I’m sick to death of our open border and the illegals bringing in diseases and getting a bunch of freebies on top of it. And I’m sick of the Muslim Obama and his getting our military killed and letting the terrorists run the show. /rant

some alternate Internet technologies

1. mesh networks
2. satellites and devices that access satellites
3.Google has project loon or something with balloons floating all over

Right. When was the last time a public utility fought for freedom?

Look how income neutrality is working in North Korea.

Think of it as in the same school of thought as income neutrality, that is all incomes the same.

Government cannot be neutral. By it’s very nature it is political.

Good roadmap for lawsuits blocking the implementation of this rule. Wait until a GOP POTUS gets in and lets the AG throw the case.

Not going to happen. You’ll need to appease the GOPe to win.

What was wrong with the Internet so far. This is a regulation for a suggested future wrong. It hasn’t occurred or caused problems to date.

what you say is ridiculous . you can find almost any kind of website. if it's a private site then that private owner has the right to have rules for what is discussed and who will be allowed membership.

the Internet is pretty much free .sure you can find exceptions but in the comments you can say almost anything on some sites or blogs even on youtube.

you are arguing for government regulation of the Internet which will totally ruin it.the Internet is working and there is a free exchange of ideas. if i want to start a web site or blog i can do it for almost free or free and can say almost anything on my site . so that is free speech.if you want to say something start your site or blog and say it . that's freedom of speech. if the FCC or net neutrality gets a hold of the Internet then they will shut down free speech and regulate it. a site is like a private home or private business. it's owner has a right to set rules .

what you are arguing for is for anyone to go into anyone’s house and say anything there. that's against private property rights. private property rights are a basic for freedom and liberty and so is free speech. for the most part there is a free flow of ideas and almost anyone can create a web site on almost any topic and say almost anything on the Internet for now.

sure you can find exceptions but nothing can ever be absolute . basically the Internet works. the gov regulating it would ruin it as a way to get true and accurate information and different points of view and freedom of expression.

The press isn’t working. That is not news but what lefists/democrats choose to make news to advance socialism.

The Internet is working .You can find accurate information, solutions to problems , and what is really happening in the world and in any field if you look well enough and long enough. you could never get any real or useful info out of the tv networks, academia, news papers, education etc as those were taken over by rabid marxist/democrat political activists

on the internet anyone can create a web site and say almost anything they want on that web site. that is freedom of speech and unregulated . net neutrality and the FCC and democrats want to regulate ,censor and ruin the Internet as they ruined the press and education

yes I agree. good analogy . Net neutrality is just marxism/socialism/communism by another name.

MANY freepers have argued for net neutrality. they are the “useful idiots”

Glenn: Net neutrality is “the global warming of the Internet”

There’s a big push right now to get the government to regulate the internet in order to preserve “net neutrality” among various internet providers. The internet is one of the few truly free remaining places on the planet today. Does the internet really need the government to regulate it? Glenn explains why the push for Net Neutrality matters.

Below is a rough transcript of this segment:

Glenn: Let me tell you about net neutrality. Net neutrality is a — is the global warming of the Internet. They are saying that they need to level the playing field of the Internet and make it free. Let me tell you something. If it wasn’t for the freedom of the Internet, this world and this country would be screwed right now. The only real growth that we have in the world, and you’re seeing it in television and news and information. The only place you’re truly free to say whatever you want, to produce whatever you want, to get it out — man has never had a voice like he has right now. And it’s all due to the Internet. And due to the fact that the government is not involved in it at all. It’s working pretty well. Do I dislike buffering speeds? Yes. Am I company that should be on the other side? Probably. And here’s why. These giant corporations like Comcast and Google and all these other companies, all they have to do if they want to shut people like me down is they choke down my — my speeds. They choke down. If you — because I’m a video provider, if they want to put me out of business, they just choke down and make it impossible to watch. Last night I was at home. I was trying to watch something — I was trying to watch studio C with the kids and we watch it online. We just don’t watch TV anymore. And I was watching online and I was on Roku and the speed was really low yesterday for some reason. It just kept stopping and starting and then stopping and then starting and buffering. Ask enough, I’m not going to watch it tonight. We did something else. That’s exactly how these giant Internet providers can put people like me out of business. I don’t want to go out of business. So shouldn’t I saying, yes, government, because I’m somebody who’s going to be targeted. I know it. Shouldn’t — shouldn’t I saying, yes, government, please protect me. Oh, protect me? No. Because the government is only going to protect those who are playing ball with the government. And trust me, here is why Internet neutrality is happening. Twofold. One, political reasons. What was it that the diversity czar at the FCC said about the important revolution in Venezuela? As soon as — as soon as Castro — not Castro.

PAT: Chavez.

GLENN: As soon as Chavez knew that he had control of the television and radio stations, that important revolution could happen. So that’s why you have a socialist Marxist at the FCC But the radio and television is over as we know it. It’s just over. It’s all online. So how do they get their grubby hands into it? They got their grubby hands into it the first place because they said, oh, there’s only so much band space. There’s only so much band width. The frequencies, the air belongs to the people. And so that’s how they got into broadcast. Now they’re saying, well, there’s only so much band width. There’s only — really? Because I remember — there was only so much band width. It gets better and better and better. From 1G to 2G to 4G to 16G to 375G. It’s coming. It will get better, cheaper, faster. Everyone will be able to do this. It is only a matter of time.

It’s a fact that is indisputable ... that every website or forum has NO FREE SPEECH ... in that the owner fully controls whatever is said there. Someone owns the site and they are the ones that control it ... whatever way they want. AND I fully support that control of every website or forum ... as that’s exactly the way it should be. For one thing, you HAVE TO CONTROL IT in order to remain in compliance to the law, and then, past the legal aspects, you (as the owner) can control it any way you want.

THAT is exactly how it works on Free Republic, too, and I agree with that.

The bottom line is that there is NO SUCH THING as free speech on any individual website or forum, because someone owns it and they CONTROL IT any way they see fit!

So, I’m not arguing against private ownership or CONTROLLING YOUR OWN PROPERTY the way you want, I’m all for it ... it’s just that you or I or anyone else cannot go onto ANY website and demand “freedom of speech” ... not even under the U.S. Constitution!

It’s costing me $52 a month. I’m bracing myself for when I cancel it. That day is coming.

By the way, we’ve checked everywhere and the only cable available in my neighborhood is Comcast.
