I take the suggestion is that he’s thinking that will get him in really good with Allah and that is why the heroics?
Well even if he did, he’s an illustration of something rare... I’m not even clear that Mad Mo was all that eager to get involved in his own dirty work. Why do that when he can get others rabid on his behalf?
I’m not implying that he is...in fact, I rather doubt it. My impression is that he’s doing what most monarchs in history have done- protect their territory. But, I find it an interesting thought.
In the past eight years, the following countries have had or almost had revolutions:
* Libya, Quadaffi dead
* Egypt, Mubarak out, then Muslim Brotherhood out by military coup
* Tunisian revolution, 2010-2011, actually led to democracy
* Yemen, two presidents/prime ministers
* Syria, attempt to overthrow dictator, currently in civil war
* Iraq, Hussain out, now civil war
* Iran, attempted revolution in 2009, ayatollahs still in power
The world is on fire, and that’s the hotbed. He knows he has to look strong or be one of the next to fall.
Especially for a nation that is full of Syrian refugees, Palestinians, Iraqi Christians and Assyrians and no oil with which to bribe a rescue by the West.
