Writing for the Baltimore Sun, media journalist David Zurawik called for Brian Williams to resign or to be fired by Friday. “If credibility means anything to NBC News, Brian Williams will no longer be managing editor and anchor of the evening newscast by the end of the day Friday,” Zurawik writes.

Wednesday evening, after being caught lying, the Nightly News anchor admitted that for the last 12 years he has repeatedly lied about being shot down in a helicopter over Iraq.

Notice that Democrat politicians often do the same sort of things. They will outright lie to make themselves more interesting to enhance their personal experiences.

Moreso than that - those on the left in general believe their lying is justified and should never result in any issues with their integrity, because they care about the poor and diversity and equality n'stuff more than those eeeevil right wingers ever could fathom...they consider themselves on the moral high ground, so anything they do to advance their higher ground stance on those issues, including fabrication, is absolutely permissible.

Fair point, but the damage is done. There is a supposed to be a high standard for accuracy and honesty from a journalist.

And it's hard to sell that he didn't know he wasn't shot down, especially after he had been informed of his inaccuracy multiple times and kept repeating it anyway.

I agree that as a journalist he should have gotten the details right, I’m just saying that the current portrayal that the whole story is completely made up isn’t accurate either- the helicopter he was in did come under fire, was struck by small arms fire, and did land shortly after, although not because of the damage incurred by the hostile fire. I don’t think he should get a pass on this, just that we need to be careful with what are facts.
