Cruz looking at 2016 ‘very seriously’
Washington Post ^ | February 8 | Katie Zezima

Posted on 02/09/2015 12:23:06 PM PST by SoConPubbie

reiterated Sunday that he is looking at the possibility of a presidential campaign "very, very seriously" but declined to hit back against criticism lobbed at him by a fellow Texas Republican.

In an interview with The Washington Post this week, former Texas governor Rick Perry jabbed at Cruz, noting that President Obama was also a young U.S. senator when he was elected as president.

“I think it’s one of the selling points, if you will, to the American people as they decide who is going to follow Barack Obama,” Perry said. “I think they’re going to make a rather radical shift away from a young, untested United States senator whose policies have really failed.”

Cruz, speaking on CNN's "State of the Union," shrugged off the criticism and said that Perry had done a good and effective job as governor.

"People occasionally throw rocks in politics," Cruz said. "That's his choice."

Cruz said on ABC's "This Week" that former Florida governor Jeb Bush (R) is going to have to "make the case" to Republican primary voters about his record, including his support for the Common Core standards and stance on immigration.

"What I would urge every Republican thinking about running to do -- and this is true of senators, of governors -- stand up and lead," Cruz said. "I'd be thrilled if six months from now, we have a half dozen Republicans standing and leading and making the case. There is a better way."

Cruz appeared on both programs from Germany, where he is attending the Munich Security Conference.

Hey Rick, before you open your mouth and insert your foot in it again, you might want to consider that the policies that Senator Ted Cruz are pursing, are the same policies that President Ronald Reagan pursed.

What an idiot!

I made it my point to watch that interview.

Senator Cruz was most gracious.

Cruz exhibits class and channels Reagan: "It's amazing how much you can accomplish if you don't care who get's the credit."

Don’t do it, Ted. This country is going down the tubes shortly, and you don’t want it to be on your watch. Let it be HILLARY! (tm). It’s NOT worth it— look what happened to Sarah Palin. The oligarch-controlled MSM WILL destroy you, and if that doesn’t work, they will go after your family, and if that doesn’t work, the oligarchs will have you killed. Don’t do it, Ted. This country is about to fall anyway, and it isn’t worth it.

Nah, we don't need a young, brilliant, Conservative U.S. Senator. What we need is a doper ex-Governor who is addicted to pain pills and makes an ass out of himself on national TV in a Debte because he is pilled-up. STFU Rick Perry.

When were Ted Cruz’s ideas ever passed into policy for them to fail? We do not need a nominee who thinks conservatism is a failure (Jeb, Corpus and Ricky all seem to)

Let’s not go there again. People said: “Let Barack Obama win and finish taking this country to the doorstep of total destruction..... let him get the blame and then we can waltz to victory next time. IT DIDN’T FREAKIN’ WORK!!

Kinda surprised they’re giving him airtime.....They are looking, waiting for the first time he ‘misremembers’, misspoke, or mis-(figure it out for yourself)so they can make it a comic skit or a Brian Williams moment. NEVER figure that the MSM is trying to help the enemy even a little bit.

Cruz knocked down Bush’s and Perry’s boy David Dewhurst, who is now OUT of TX politics. He’s whacked Bush, Inc. and the TX GOP-e, but somehow that’s small potatoes to Walker taking on the WI Union and winning.

Rick Perry does not even cast a shadow when in the same room as Ted Cruz.

Did I miss the Sarc. and it flew right over my old mellon or are you serious? Damn, I understand the frustration but now is not the time to give up. Ted Cruz does not strike me as the kinda fella that would give up no matter what the MSM, (and the MSM’s handlers), tried. Oh well.

Perry also does not want internal polls of him v. Cruz surfacing, either.

I wonder, does it cost 5X the money to kill a poll before it’s taken and published as it does to commission a public poll? Must be an interesting phone call: ‘Rick, how much is it worth to you if we DON’T publish that Cruz is beating you 2:1 in TX for POTUS?

Same with WI internal polls: if they showed Walker whacking Hillary out of the park, wouldn’t it be all over Rush and Drudge?
