” If there’s one thing that has caused pain and suffering the world over, it is a gun”

Especially if you don’t have one to fight back with : )

What is disturbing and in my opinion unnecessary is when civilians stock up on guns and ammunition

The Jews in Nazi Germany might disagree with this as would the poor citizens in southside Chicago, North Korea, Cuba, former Soviet Union and any former eastern bloc country, Communist China and any other dictatorship in the world.

What is disturbing and in my opinion unnecessary is when civilians stock up on guns and ammunition. I have never owned a gun and I don't wish to do so. I just wish gun owners who're not law enforcers felt the same way.

Hey, mon! Thanks for your opinion. Move along. Baaahhhh. Baaahhhhhhhhhhhhh. (sheep)

In just 100 days in 1994, some 800000 Tutsi and moderate Hutu were slaughtered in Rwanda by ethnic Hutu extremists.

In the words of one British diplomat, the whole genocide could have been stopped in it’s tracks by a single brigade of royal marines.

Had the Tutsi had guns, the Hutu extremists, who were cowards in the fact of serious opposition, would have never dared started their genocide, nor would they have been able carry it out like they did.

Same with the savages of ISIS today. They prey on the defenseless but either run or get run over hen faced with serious opposition.

If there's one thing that has caused pain and suffering the world over, it is a gun.

I can't agree with you more. Especially when the gun is in the hands of people who want what is yours and feel justified in using a gun to make you hand it over. Which, here in the United States, is why so many departments of government have purchased an insane number of arms and ammo. "We're from the government, and we are here to help you.

(The correct sentence would be "We're from the government, and we are here to help ourselves.)

"I have never owned a gun and I don't wish to do so."

Then don't buy one. Don't worry about what I own or buy or own.

Just because you don't want one don't ask for laws around the world to outlaw things you don't want to own and allow things you do want.

Sophie isn’t the brightest bulb in the box is she.....so its OK if nations want to kill each other w/ guns but self defense from criminals isn’t. Wonder how she decided all this and even more why she thought anyone cared about her unbaked opinions.

If you want completely helpless when roving bandits attack your home, by all means go ahead.
You have the right to make that choice. For yourself.
Not for me.

Second paragraph: why would a gun owner wish not to have guns? Does not make sense. Author is delusional.

The gun is an instrument in the hands of people. The gun is morally neutral. The morality is in the user.

Being anti-gun is stupid. Being anti-self-defense is stupid. Being anti-violence is good.

Firearms are like insurance, fire extinguishers, and emergency equipment. I hope to never, ever have to use it, but it is foolishness to not have it in the first place.

One day there was a knock at my door. President Mugabe, and President Clinton were there. “We are here to take away your rights, and your freedoms”, they said. “From my cold, dead hands, Mister Presidents”, came the reply. They glanced at said hands, and recognized the power of the Second Amendment. “Oh, sorry, wrong address” they exclaimed ;)
