Has the word "lie" become extinct?

Can we believe anything we hear or read or even see anymore? Is anything real? Has the truth become as outdated as video cassettes and beepers? We have been on a slippery slope for decades, and the new normal seems to be that anyone can make things up or fake something and there are virtually no consequences.

When Bill Clinton wagged his finger at the American people, saying, “I want you to listen to me; I gonna say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky, I never told anybody to lie, not a single time” – I knew we were teetering on the brink. But then again, I suppose it depends on what the meaning of the word “lie” is. When it was proven as fact that Clinton had lied about that and other indiscretions, somehow the universe flipped and we, the people who stood up for the truth, were the bad guys for holding him accountable!

Lie is buried somewhere along with integrity.

“Lie” is not extinct. It’s now used to describe an honest error, or a statement that’s true, but the Left doesn’t like it.

My teenagers will say, “I was lying,” when they mean, “I made a mistake about a fact,” such as which band recorded a song.

An example of the latter use concerns President Bush’s statement that British intelligence believed Saddam Hussein was trying to buy nuclear material in Africa. Regardless of the underlying facts - was he or wasn’t he? - President Bush’s statement was true on its face. That was what British intelligence believed at the time.

No, the word is alive and well. It just has to be used in the proper context. Example:

"Bush lied, people died."

dunno. remember all the shrinks who told us ala bill clinton that lying is good for you?

of course doctors used to be in ciggie ads telling us smoking was good for you too. now vaccines filled with thimerosal and synthetic squalene and other stuff they didn’t filter out, is good for you.

When truth and morality are considered relative, lying and considering it wrong are on a sliding scale.

Progressives don’t lie, Progressives don’t lie, Progressives don’t lie......

Repeat daily, as necessary, and a big Thank You! goes out to Herr Goebbles.
