Vaccines and Autism: What you need to know

The increase in numbers of American children diagnosed with autism is frightening. Autism cases have skyrocketed between 20 and 30 fold since the early 1970s, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

In 2014, the CDC released a report stating that one child in 68 had autism, a 30 percent increase from only two years earlier. For boys, the risk was even worse — one in 42.

The condition, which causes difficulty communicating and limited social skills, was so rare in past generations that the term autism wasn't even used in the modern sense until 1938. Autism wasn't classified as a specific illness until the late 1960s.

As the numbers of victims began to rise, desperate parents searched for help — and for answers. Doctors were as clueless as the parents about the cause. Many parents believed their children were normal until they began receiving regularly scheduled vaccinations. Speculation centered around the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine, since some parents saw a dramatic spiral into autism immediately following the MMR inoculation.

Holistic physician David Brownstein, M.D., has seen first-hand the agony faced by parents of autistic children. "For over 20 years, I have seen many parents who reported that their child was developing normally until they received a vaccine," he says. "Within hours to days of the vaccine, particularly the MMR vaccine, these parents claim that their children changed in their behavior and attitude.

"The story was always similar," he tells Newsmax Health. "One day the child was normal, the next day he or she was crying and irritable and began regressing on all fronts — neurologically, behaviorally, and emotionally.

You cannot see what you refuse to look at. One in 68 is not acceptable/normal.

I refuse to consider the vaccine/autism link, and I hope no one you love has to suffer from measles or mumps.

I say this as a parent of a daughter on the spectrum.

Anyone consider that the exponential increase in the use of recreational drugs over the past fifty years in women of child bearing age may have something to do with the equally exponential increase in the rate of autism? These mind altering substances can’t be good for the developing brain of a fetus.

vaccines are given too early for autism to be diagnosed. This is junk.

Every agency of government has been politicized by the Obola Administration. This includes the CDC.

Refusing considerationof a link is just as unscientific as asserting existence of a relationship that has not been demonstrated in randomized, blinded tests.

This has already been well covered.

It’s simply not true.

If you read the article...it seems the major concern is the number if vax given in a short period of time to very young children...which has been my concern. I am not against all vax...just question timing and need for some...IE...hpv

I wonder how many of those who reply made an effort to read the linked article?

Anyhow, thanks for the post. It was worth my time to follow the link and read it in its entirety.

“Holistic physician David Brownstein, M.D.”

Mr. Sulu, set phasers to auto-fail.

Turns out you can’t have your cake and eat it too. There are other factors, but vaccinations aren’t one of them.

Bottom line - it seems you can’t wait until you’re 40 after you’ve built your career, and then decide to have the family experience. Doctors point this out to mothers of that age all the time. There are greater risks for all sorts of developmental problems for women giving birth after the age of 35. It isn’t a popular opinion, but facts is facts.

I have said this for years. But, this thought is rejected off-hand because it isn't politically correct to say that drug use could be the cause.

I absolutely refuse to consider random internet links to junk science that hurts and kills people. I wouldn’t wish measles on anyone.

I learned my lesson 10 years ago after listening to an older and supposedly wiser “Lew Rockwell” mom tell me that the best way to get rid of a tick on my daughter was to rub soap on it. Hint: it was a stupid internet hoax. (I could have given my daughter Lyme’s disease when the irritated tick barfed its contents into my daughter). Thankfully, none of my children contracted Lyme’s.

Also,

I don’t believe in a raw milk cure.
I don’t believe in essential oils.
I don’t believe GMOs are bad.
I’m not entirely anti-gluten.
I AM anti-carbs.
There’s no such thing as organic honey.

“Jan. 6, 2011 — The discredited study purportedly linking the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine to autism wasn’t just poor science, it was outright fraud, a leading U.K. medical journal claims.”

I don't have a dog in this fight now that anyone dear to me is past this vaccine dilemma. But I, for one, would not call up the reference of Snopes.com as an authoritative source for the ‘truth’. To me, invoking the Snopes name is synonymous with FactCheck.org.

The mental health industry is a racket.

The Autism has been widened thanks to all the Aspergers diagnoses.

Essentially any child that used to be just considered a bit awkward is now diagnosed with Autism and gets heavily medicated.

I know many mothers with children on the spectrum, and none of them have ever used recreational drugs, including me.

I’ve never smoked, I never drank. I took vitamins when I was pregnant. I grew up in the country.

Way to go - blame the victim.

The article was very interesting and thank you for posting. I had no idea that the MMR vaccine used aborted fetal lung tissue. Perhaps the injection of other DNA is what causes Autism. Not a scientist but I know you can’t get the wrong blood during a transfusion. I can only imagine the body does something to combat another person(s) DNA. Very interesting, azkathy.

If you speak to teachers, they note the correlation as soon as they meet the parents.
