Sun News Network, Canadas only openly right-of-center news channel, will cease broadcasting early Friday morning, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation revealed. Launched in 2011 by media mogul Pierre-Karl Péladeau, it had trouble attracting audiences. About 200 people will be without a job.
Supporters of the channel complain that the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (the Canadian FCC) did not put it on par with other similar channels. But CTV News reports that the CRTC said that Sun News did not meet the criteria to be a compulsory channel in 2013. It stated in its refusal that Sun News did not clearly demonstrate how its service would make an exceptional contribution to the objectives of the Act, i.e. the Broadcasting Act that regulates all airwaves in Canada.

Devastating. The only channel that spoke the truth about Islam and Muslim immigration.
In many ways it was better than Fox News.
So in Canada is right wing news like left wing news is here? DOA?
I wouldn't label Glenn Beck a libertarian or a conservative. He clearly isn't helpful.
Guess So. It seems they have a tough time getting traction. but it is happening here with The Blaze, Newsmax, and One America News so a planned Libertarian outfit is nit starting.

You're exactly right. Nothing on any TV comes close to giving the facts has Sun News did.
I used to think Glenn Beck was Conservative. I say he is on some things, but mostly he has veered Libertarian too much. He channels S.E. Cupp more than I would like to admit.

No, Sun Newsnetwork was better then anything in the US.
here is a random example:
Canada's Perspective on Keystone XL: Ezra Levant of Sun News Network 1/18/2012
Libertarians knows what a fascist is. I believe Beck is just a fraud.
“Glen Beck is NOT a Conservative.” Correcto but he is a whacked out freak and attracts the same types that Jim Jones did!!!
Free Dominion is closed... that’s right! Wasn’t it because of the fear of some lawsuit by a lefty? Similar to something Ezra Levant faced?
This makes me sick. I was so happy when Sun came on the air.
This is not over. At least it’s not for the “CFRA nation” in Ottawa... people “have a pen and a phone” and they will complain. I know I already have.
Both Brian and Michael are ardent pro-life spokespeople. I will miss them on the air as well.
“I recall in the early 90s groups were demanding the government block the signal of the Buffalo NY station that broadcast Rush Limbaughs TV show when it was on.”

OMG, really? When I first moved to Canada, there was an upstate NY station I could get when the weather was right.... Rush was on that station & was the only thing that made me feel at home; especially because it was the 2000 election! I was so sick and tired of the people up here criticizing the U.S.
Rush was my one link to “home” (so near, and yet so far...)
“The only channel that spoke the truth about Islam and Muslim immigration.”

That is absolutely true. Michael Coren especially. He’s a Brit, I believe, so he knows how insidious it is, what damage it has done to his country.
From announcement to closure was quite quick. It was a money loser so it had to go eventually. I watched occasionally and indeed there is/was nothing like it on US tv. A sad day.
I watched both the Lilley and the Coren show last night and am extremely disappointed in the news this morning. As for Ezra, he is passionate about his causes but when doing interviews needed to talk less and listen more.
I’m going to miss Sun TV. A lot.
Unless he wants that association, he shouldn’t declare that brand name.
He “hates Republicans”.
I’d say he’s more libertarian than Frank Meyer was and less so than Ron Paul. I’d say he’s a sort of “conservatarian”, which is on the libertarian end of the movement, but still within our tent.
I find myself mostly in agreement with Glenn. (And I like Rand Paul in a lot of ways, but think his dad is nutso.)
