(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D- Ore.) has released a plan calling for more research on the health effects of guns.
Blumenauers Enough is Enough plan looks back to how the U.S. government addressed tobacco use and automobile safety in years past and calls for a similar approach to guns.
The Surgeon General's report on tobacco was a major catalyst for the efforts to reduce tobacco use. Ralph Naders research captured headlines and focused public attention on automobile safety. Similarly, we need more research on the health effects of guns. We can start by improving the ability of researchers and the federal government to study and share information about guns, according to the plan.

How about the health effects of being allergic to nanny state bullsh*t?
I’d like a study done on that.
This lib lawmaker cites the Australia model. 9,000 guns were confiscated in New South Wales in 12 months from organized crime, outlaw biker gangs, and midlevel criminals. This push is to fight “out of control” gun violence prevalent there. This has happened since their ban and ordinary citizens were disarmed. Criminals are smuggling guns in from overseas by the boatload to arm criminals. The can still find guns easily.
Lefty hoplophobes have been trying to get guns branded a health issue for at least 20 years. Haven’t been successful yet but they are persistent.
Earl just got Dem majorities in both the Oregon Senate and House. He’s feeling cocky.
Looks like ol’ Earl Blumenauer just disqualified himself for public office.
Gun-grabbing Nanny State PING!
The guns walk around infecting people, don’tcha know!
The Commerce Clause, of course.
