This is and was to be expected, same here in the US. When Women are required to work in order to pay the government, they generally cannot afford to have children. Throw in Abortion and Birth Control and it is a disaster in the making. We started Welfare in 1964 for this specific purpose, DESTROY THE FAMILY.

This is a trend that began long before the widespread availability of birth control. The trend toward lower fertility rates began in France and Britain in the 19th Century as they industrialized and urbanized. It happens in every country as it develops. The initial drivers were postponement of marriage and the fact that urban children are a financial drain.

I don't know of a single country that has reversed this trend. We aren't more affected by this in the U.S. because of immigration. If you break down fertility statistics and look at U.S. born Caucasians, however, we are headed in the same direction, not all that far behind.
