College students turn to 'sugar daddies' to pay tuition, expenses
CBS ^

Posted on 02/16/2015 4:53:10 PM PST by Red in Blue PA

With more than half of the college students in Massachusetts graduating with student loan debt and the cost of college tuition rising by almost 3 percent last year, some western Massachusetts students have come up with a new financial aid plan.

This plan involves dates in exchange for money. They're doing this by becoming sugar babies, and giving sugar daddies companionship for money.

They meet through a website called SeekingArrangement.com. It matches wealthy men with younger women in need of cash.

Will the federal government try to drive out the competition like they did with subsidized student loans? Your sugar daddy will be Al Franken... sorry about that.

Gee, what an innovative idea! CBS on the cutting edge once again! What clever, innovative, creative person thought this up?

There's the media again, always telling you what to think and giving you examples on how to lower your expectations of yourself.

The voice of the devil.

I’ve heard about this. It sounds like a front for prostitution.

Yes, I know they are saying it’s companionship and mentoring and all that.

Well, escort services say that they are all about companionship, and how they provide dates for single businessmen who need a date to attend business dinners and such.

I don’t think I have a dirty mind or think there have to be ulterior motives involved. I just don’t think I’m the only person to think that some people are seeking sexual arrangements by these types of connections.

Is a man really going to pay out so much money just to have some hands off companionship with a female? Or to mentor her, he is going to pay all her bills???

And will a man really pay out big amounts of money just to have a date to go to a couples oriented business dinner???

Maybe some men do this just to have a friend. And maybe some men are eager to be mentors to young women, with no other expectations.

And some men have always claimed to read Playboy just for the articles.

If it’s a straight exchange of sexual favors for money, I’d have to agree.

If it’s a guy who wants a pseudo relationship without the down sides of a damsel in person, I’m not convinced.

There are guys out there that feel good when helping someone in need. They recognize they’re over the hill and still want to have contact with a nice person that can reduce their loneliness.

I have no problem with this, as long as it’s not a straight hook-up line.

I don’t want college women turned into prostitutes just to get through college.

There is a duty of colleges to manage their finances so that kids aren’t financially ruined before they get their first job.

Starting families in the mid to late twenties should be a possibility... even if universities don’t think so.

I’m surprised that Bill Clinton hasn’t “sponsored” a couple of college girls.

Fine by me and I’d do it.

No years of life programming and self serving tactics that piss me off and are really distracting...

I would not be shocked that majority of the college females are there to find their future husbands.

“I’m surprised that Bill Clinton hasn’t “sponsored” a couple of college girls.”

Then you would be even more surprised to learn that Bill Clinton does indeed sponsor college girls, in the thousands, through his Global Initiative company.
