Europe, a continent long known for the rarity of gun violence, is confronting twin challenges that give the issue sudden urgency: a growing population of radicalized young men determined to strike targets close to home, and a black market awash in high-powered weapons. The problem has been rendered vividly in recent weeks by a pair of deadly assaults that each paralyzed a European capital. In Paris and Copenhagen, the attacks were carried out by former small-time criminals turned violent extremists who obtained military-grade illicit weapons with apparent ease.
In contrast with the free-firing United States, Europe is generally seen as a haven from serious gun violence. Here in Denmark, handguns and semiautomatic rifles are all but banned. Hunting rifles are legally available only to those with squeaky-clean backgrounds who have passed a rigorous exam covering everything from gun safety to the mating habits of Denmarks wildlife.

And European liberals will follow this revelation up with “But think how bad it would be”
For that matter, who is making and supplying to ISIS all those orange jump suits and black ones too?
CINTAS? At least for the uniforms.
I think it's the "Koch Brothers"?
Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act which deprived a whole nation of arms as the blackest. - Mahatma Ghandhi
Interesting quote from a gentleman who, to a large degree, based his life’s work on non-violence.
European Union’s version of Fast and Furious?
I guess he realized that there’s a time for beer summits and then there’s a time for some serious shooting in order to remain free of oppression.
From Libya, for example. Now it is clear why Gaddhafi had to be destroyed. There is also state support for terrorist acts - then terorists receive new weapons:
ABU DHABI Kuwait has reported the theft of a massive amount of U.S. weapons. The Interior Ministry said thieves broke into a warehouse and stole a huge amount of firearms and ammunition. The ministry said 20,000 U.S.-origin M-16 assault rifles and 15,000 rounds for 9mm pistols were stolen. There were no guards during the break-in, the ministry said on April 7.
That is all that most folks remember. The truth is that Ghandhi tried violent means first. He wasn't a pacifist all his life, he only adopted that camouflage after trying other methods. In that regard, he is one of the most successful propagandist in history.
Thank you. Hard to find real history these days.
I’d love to see somebody come up with a postcard that says “To all Europeans who don’t agree with The Second Amendment:” and then has a vulgar insult translated into all the languages over there.
The former Yugoslavia, lots of surplus rifles, MGs, and RPGs available on the black market for fair prices. European border control isn't very tight anymore, so Euros have no problem trafficking the arms. I read somewhere that France probably has 20 million AK's in their black market, enough to equip a third of their pop!
