Culpeper authorities identified Friday the two bodies found at Mountain Run Lake Park Thursday evening.
Amber Lynn Martin, 21, of Madison and Johnny Bynum, 30, of Middletown, Delaware, were found dead in a car in the park's parking lot by a citizen around 5:35 p.m., according to a joint investigation by the Culpeper Police Department and the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office . Both of the deceased had suffered apparent gunshot wounds. According to CCSO public information officer Angela Deavers, the case is currently being investigated as a double homicide. "It's still under investigation," Deavers said. "At this point it's not being treated as a suicide."
Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins explained that a double homicide means that two bodies were found, and that evidence is still being investigated before it can be called anything else. According to Deavers, the citizen observed the vehicle and thought it suspicious, and then located the bodies upon closer inspection. Deavers said that no reports of gunfire were reported in the area. The agencies are not searching for a suspect, but are asking any citizens who visited the lake Thursday or witnessed anything suspicious to contact dispatch at 727-7900.
The park is town property, located in the county.
Adjacent to Mountain Run Lake, the park is located off Mountain Run Lake Road, along J.B. Carpenter Jr. Drive. Hours at the park are dawn to dusk. It consists of walking trails, shelters and play areas for children. The town of Culpeper developed Mountain Run Lake and the surrounding park in the 1950s and '60s as part of a watershed project that substantially boosted the supply of drinking water. Located six miles south of downtown Culpeper a few miles off of U.S. 29, the scenic park is remotely situated in a relatively affluent residential area.
Last year, the town, working with private citizens, added a dog park to MRLP. The fenced-in area is located next to the parking lot where Thursday's grisly discovery was made. The two entrances to MRLP remained locked and closed to the public through the day Friday.

Used to take some lab puppies to that very spot. It is a shame to see the nice park have such a stain. Of course, sorry for the pool souls lost, too.
Wonder if this is drug related....
Could you clue us in as to where Culpepper is?
Where is this?

I didn't think of it until I was posting a story one night and it asked for a state. LOL
You may remember, a few years ago, Culpeper had a town cop that responded to a church employee calling about a woman in an SUV in their parking lot. He talked to the woman in the parking lot and she suddenly drove away. Cop shot her dead and was eventually convicted for it but we never could find out why this happened.
That is truly bizarre.

Probably a wife who killed her husband and husband’s girlfriend would be my guess.....
Did the grill or hood have a strange grimace?
