My furnace is not able to keep up. When it gets to the single digits, it lags at least 4 degrees behind, sometimes more. It returns to normal in the 20's. My house is very drafty because of problems; I have storm windows on but some are stuck on the screens, one is broken and a couple lost.
I must say, the last we had about 13 inches of snow, I think it was the most beautiful one I've seen in my life the way it stuck to the trees for 3 days or more.
They do temps by wind chill now and it has been bitterly cold too many days but not as bad as some in the past and when I was a kid. I have to think I do not know how I would cope if I lived out east where they have gotten socked repeatedly, never saw anything like that, especially some photos I looked up on google images and saw Boston and New York. One assisted living facility, one-storey, had drifts up to the eaves and National Guardsmen shoveling snow off the roof. I don't know if they moved the residents or not. The entrance was snowed in.
I hope you have lots of nice warm blankets or quilts to snuggle up in till it warms up a bit.
Our furnace was like that till it gave out and we had to spring for a new one. Cha-ching! But ours is AC, too, and we couldn’t live without that in the West Texas summers, so we coughed up the $$$. *gulp*
I don’t think I’d survive the kind of winters that the Northeast has had this year! I’m too cold-natured!
Stay warm!
