Thursday at the 2015 Conservative Political Action Conference, (CPAC) an animated Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was questioned after his speech by Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity.
After receiving a rousing standing ovation Cruz opened his speech joking, Its almost like CPAC invited Benjamin Netanyahu to speak. Well you know we could have had Hillary Clinton here but we couldnt find a foreign nation to foot the bill.

Badda Boom, Badda Bing!
The Q&A was great, and Ted handled all of Hannity’s questions with wit and skill. The funniest part occurred when Hannity asked him to give a one word comment on various political figures. When Hannity said the name, Bill Clinton, Cruz came back with youth outreach! Everybody in the audience was rolling in the aisles.
Hannity asked Cruz if he was constitutionally eligible to be president. Cruz had an interesting answer. Cruz stated that he was born in Canada, that his mother was an American citizen by birth which under federal law made him an American citizen by birth and that the Constitution requires the president to be a natural born citizen. As much as I like Cruz, I didnt like his answer. He obviously equates citizen by birth with the higher standard natural born citizen. Cruz is not a natural born citizen. However, since that constitutional requirement has been waived for the current president maybe he, too, should get a waiver.
WOW....Ted is incredible! Please Ted, RUN!
Yes he did!
His speech was terrific, but I did not care for his answer either.
He ended it very quickly, leaving a gap in explanation from how a citizen at birth equates to a natural born citizen.
Citizen at birth is not and cannot be synonymous in all cases with natural born citizen. If it were, there would be no need for the distinction made by John Jay and approved by George Washington to add “natural born” to citizen for eligibility for President but not the other two Congressional offices.
I was surprised by the abrupt end to the explanation, and it was certainly not sufficient.
The mantle of Reagan is clearly on the shoulders of Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz, but the question being asked here will certainly be asked by a media that hates Cruz, as it hates Palin, should Cruz become a Presidential candidate.
