In 2005, Schweich became the second-highest ranking and then highest-ranking international law enforcement official in the U.S. State Department as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Acting Assistant Secretary of State at the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs
On January 28, 2015, Schweich announced he would run for Governor of Missouri, setting up a Republican primary with former Missouri House Speaker Catherine Hanaway.
On Feb. 26, 2015.. shot dead due to a ‘self-inflicted gunshot wound’.

Schweich and Bolton spoke at a Missouri Republican dinner a couple of years ago here at Lake of the Ozarks. Schweich had made a name for himself as a hard nosed auditor of state agencies, and a damned good public speaker. In fact, he stole the show from John Bolton as I recall.
He was a short, balding, banty rooster of a man, full of confidence and smart as a whip when it came to the law.
He could have been our next governor. What a waste.

So he's the second Waco investigator to suddenly die? The FLIR camera expert Carlos Ghigliotti had a sudden heart attack while he was studying the Waco films.
