MOSCOW A prominent Russian opposition leader, Boris Y. Nemtsov, was shot dead in central Moscow late Friday night within sight of the Kremlin walls.
The murder of Mr. Nemtsov, 55, a first deputy prime minister under Boris N. Yeltsin who later helped organize opposition demonstrations against President Vladimir V. Putin, was confirmed by Russias Interior Ministry shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.
A smooth-talking and worldly man who spoke accented but near-perfect English, Mr. Nemtsov rose to prominence as the governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and became a vice premier in the late 1990s, during the last years of Mr. Yeltsins presidency.
The attack came less than two days before Mr. Nemtsov was to lead another mass rally against Mr. Putin. The rallys organizers put out a statement of purpose earlier denouncing Mr. Putin for the countrys growing economic crisis and its part in the war in Ukraine. . .

I have that book, started it once and did not finish. I think it was one of the early Soviet espionage books and probably is good. I was thinking about trying to read it again.
There have been quite a few dead bodies left in the wake of Obama's reign too.
Edit: These politicians there should be wearing bullet-proof vests, the guy probably thought he was relatively safe though he did apparently fear for his life. I’d think around the Kremlin, maybe they thought, no one would carry out a brazen attack. In the UK, perhaps other places, the streets largely have CCTV everywhere.
Best part about the movie was Joanna Pacula, She is niewinna!
Oh I can. Vlad doesn't think he needs to be subtle, not after riding that tiger bare chested. Or was it a dragon?
They call it the KGB.
Crazy to be an opponent of Putin’s and live in Russia. Better to buy sniper rifle and give him a third eye and every successor who emulates Putin.
No body going to beat Putin politically and the Russian people are too stupid to revolt, they seem to be resigned to being ruled by the Russian mob.
Even a one-time co-hort, Radio Free Europe says in fact, a mentor to Putin showed up dead 15 years ago. His name Sobchak:
“ST. PETERSBURG — Few municipal leaders are credited with changing the path of history. Anatoly Sobchak, the late reformist mayor of Russia’s northern capital and political mentor to a young Vladimir Putin, is different.
....
During a February 19, 2000, campaign trip to Russia’s western exclave of Kaliningrad, the 62-year-old Sobchak died in a hotel room, apparently of a heart attack. But media reports later suggested he had been poisoned. Suspicions were further raised when the two former KGB agents traveling with Sobchak were later shot dead in what appeared to be professional hits.”
