The housing bust and Great Recession might have scared a generation of would-be construction workers away from the building trades.
That’s the strong suggestion of some new research by the Federal Reserve, which explored why shortages of construction workers are emerging even as large numbers of people who seem good candidates for that type of work remain under-employed.
A working paper by Fed economist Andrew Paciorek notes that construction employment growth has badly lagged the recovery in the labor market as a whole.

No one has mentioned the role of recreational drugs in sapping the ambition of what would have been working class young people. Getting anyone under 40 to show up every day for any job is almost impossible.

Irish, well the blame is because regular Americans are too LAZY to do these jobs. These manual jobs are beneath American men.
I used to believe that garbage to degree when I was living in Chicago. Then I moved to rural MO.
Within the first month of living here I was driving down main street here in town and I looked up and saw something so shocking I lost my senses and drove off the road into a parked car. When I awoke I was in a hospital and a cop was asking me what happened. I said “ you are not going to believe this officer but as I was driving to the store, I looked up and saw White Men putting up a roof of a commercial building. I was in such shock I drove off the road”.
After months of recovery, the following summer I was again driving through town and looked over at our nice Bank. What I saw was again so shocking I lost my senses and drove off the road into a dumpster. When I awoke I was in a hospital and the same cop was asking me what happened. I said “ you are not going to believe this officer but as I was driving to the store, I looked up and saw White Men doing the banks landscaping. Mowing and trimming and raking. And what really made me shocked was that the truck’s trailer for all the equipment did not have the Company Name Ramirez or Cruz, it was “Decker Lawn Maintenance”. It was such a shock I lost it.
The kicker was after recovery, I was at my son’s baseball practice and the coach came over and introduced himself. We were chewing the fat and I asked him what he did. “I’m a painter and DRYWALLER”. I almost had a heart attack. A white guy, born and bred in America can be a drywaller?
All the above is 100% true (except for the drama of accidents)/. American Men can and will do work. Just not for garbage pay. But unfortunately, Amendment 32 of the US Constitution states “US Business will have unlimited access to any and all potential labor sources regardless of immigration status, and if anyone opposes, they will be tried and convicted of racism”.
Industrial arts education has been neglected badly in this country. Machinists Plumbers Electricians Mechanics are needed and in short supply
Obviously, they went back to Mexico for the winter.
In my area all of those jobs had been done by whites when I was younger, and much of the skilled workers still are white guys. The problem is that nobody wants to pay them; NJ has been “Mexicanized”.
Nobody here in NJ believes these are jobs “Americans won’t do”, because most of us have seen them do them (and done them ourselves). I think that mantra plays better in areas where the Mexicanization took place decades ago. Remember all the Americans applying for the meat-packing jobs after the INS raids in the Midwest? When asked why they wanted the jobs that “Americans won’t do”, they replied that they were the ones who had worked in those plants before the owners replaced them with Mexicans...
With the exception of slavery (unpaid labor), the way to get people to work was to entice them with pay. Young people (like anyone else) will work for the right price; our imported “replacement Americans” have plenty of involvement with recreational drugs/alcohol, and they’re still working...

Based on local construction projects, all the workers are from Mexico.
In my area private projects seem to be Hispanics (with white guys operating the heavy machinery), while government projects seem to be mixed tokens standing around with white guys operating the heavy machinery and white women waving traffic flags. As I understand it, only 49% of these workers are allowed to be white guys (due to the government contract); the other 51% just “plays construction”.
BTW, these contract requirements have long been a source of contention between blacks & Hispanics; it is probably the most direct indication that Hispanics are taking jobs from blacks (regardless of whether or not they were qualified for those jobs).
All you gotta do is look around Houston. They are illegals and they are everywhere.
If it were not for them nothing would be built it appears.
That's by design, the game has been rigged.
There are many new homes being built in Southern California by Mexicans for Chinese cash buyers.

On the Mark Levin Show Thursday evening, Sue Paine of WCBM revealed that she was accidentally invited to take part in a White House Conference call about Obama’s ‘Executive Amnesty’ orders.
What she heard on this call by officials in the White House and radical Amnesty planners was frightening. It is no less than an insidious plan to use American citizens own money to fund our own national suicide and demise.
Sue revealed that the White House plans that these ‘New Americans’ will be subsidized by you and me, the taxpayer. That they will be given immediate access and priority for Social Security benefits and provided other ‘benefits’ she quotes the White House says these “new Americans” are “ENTITLED TO”. Plans involve creating a separate enclave of a ‘country within a country’ of these ‘New Americans’ and then EXPAND them outward even further, until they simply take over and conquer us.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist, and I completely believe every bit of that because that is exactly what is happening. While Americans are taxed to death, they have basically stopped breeding; this country is changing much more quickly than anyone can imagine. If Obama’s re-election doesn’t convince people, then I guess nothing will...
If it weren’t for illegals in NJ much of our existing housing stock (and schools) would be empty as well.
This only gets worse as more Americans forego children.
